Like Scott, I grew up on what is now known as classic rock, so I have a lot of affection for that genre as well.

Led Zeppelin probably being the mack daddy of classic rock bands.

Did you see the set list someone posted from this tour?  Looks really good.

No.  I don't want to know.  I always like the surprise.

Last night was pretty funny.  I went to a concert that I have been eagerly awaiting for many months (Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, a strange indie rock act I love).  I went alone, and it was in this old converted farm house (the venue is called The Goat Farm).  It was a hipster's paradise there.  I was way older than anyone there, but I thought my retro-looking Kinks shirt would help me fit in.

Anyway, my hero Ariel himself was manning his own merchandise table, and I was determined to chat with him.  First I bought a couple of rare LPs he had for sale (major score there).  He's kind of an odd dude, known for being kind of a recluse, so I wasn't sure if he'd be that talkative.  But I had the perfect ice breaker ready -- he and I appeared on an album together.  There was a tribute album compiled for an outsider musician named R. Stevie Moore several years ago, and my band contributed a track to it, and he contributed two tracks himself.  In fact, that's how I found out about Ariel Pink's music in the first place.   So here I was all proud to be on the same album with this guy, and it turns out he wasn't even aware that HE was on it.  Apparently there have been multiple Moore tribute albums and he couldn't even keep them straight in his head as to which ones he was even on.  But we had a good chat about it anyway.

Meanwhile, it's approaching 10 pm and there are no visible signs that the show is going to start anytime soon.  I'm starting to think about how tired I am (had band practice the night before) and how rough it's going to be at work the next day (i.e. today).   So before the show even started, I called the night a success, and went home.  They're more of a studio band anyway, didn't expect a lot from the live show.  But I really wanted to meet the guy, and I did.  And now I'm well rested and satisfied.

I'd be bummed about not seeing the show, but otherwise it sounds like you had a cool evening.  Unfortunately the "rock and roll all night and party every day" lifestyle does not transfer well into the real world of "working for a living".

True dat.  I was never a night owl to begin with either.  One big reason why I haven't pursued getting my band regular bar gigs.
