Repubs win for 'misguided' but as far as 'overreaching', I think the Dems win on that front, that is if you think it's a bad idea to overreach on matters as health care, corporate regulation, alternative energy, or just about anything else.

I think it's a great idea to overreach on matters of health care, corporate regulation (especially corporate regulation), and many other issues. I do not think it's a good thing to overreach in limiting civil liberties or in hindering people's personal freedom (something the Republicans love to do). |

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Well we certainly can't look to the halls of power to set the standard for civil discourse anymore.

In some social issues I find conservatives (not necessarily republicans) much more reasonable. I don't love those who want to tell people what to do in private though (drugs, etc). |

Seriously, living here in Texas, I deal with conservatives on a regular basis, and I must say that I do not feel I have had one positive interaction with them. See my quote below. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps there are decent conservatives out there who actually care about their fellow humans and other beings, but they certainly are not well-represented where I live. I feel my life would be a whole lot better if I could have absolutely zero interaction with conservatives, especially those of the tea-party nature. Alas, that is not the way it is. |

Well I have lots of conservative family members in Texas, and they are good people. Maybe it's you.

^^Typical way of saying "only those who agree with me are nice". There are many people who seem to always find a****les everywhere they go. They continuously say that most people are idiots and they always find trouble in all places. We have had people like this even on this forum. The thing is, when you can't find anybody good who doesn't think exactly like you, maybe, as Jim said, the problem is you. Just maybe.

There's nothing wrong with republicans and democrats or conservatives and liberals. I would say most find themselves simply misguided. The problem lies mainly with the party structures and the politicians themselves who take pride in their ability to be duplicitous.

To quote Johnny Cash: "Don't go mixing politics with the folk songs of our land. Just work on harmony and diction. Play your banjo well. And if you have political convictions, keep them to yourself." |

Here's an article by Nick Gillespie of Reason Magazine:
3 Ways Romney, Ryan and the Republicans can win over Libertarians If this forum is anything to go by, I don't like their chances (although I'll be voting for them.) |

I mean, if Romney actually did that, I would probably vote for him. However, he's made no verbal indication that he plans on doing this, and if he were to do so, then can I actually believe that he will do so?

Ok, everyone watch Ron Paul on Leno (why couldn't he be on Letterman, instead) and then meet up here afterward to discuss whatever he said. Break

I totally am, which is sad because part of my job is to care. I just want the whole thing to be over and I am pretty much resigned to the fact that the next four years are going to continue to show the economic stagnation and high unemployment of the last four. |

I'm just sick and tired of the vehement accusations that get followed up by pathetic excuses once the accuser gets the vote. Obama railed against Bush and, come on, look at the numbers: He fares worse. Saving the auto industry? Please. Don't take credit for spending someone else's money. Killing bin Laden? Could that have happened without the efforts of the previous administration? No. What in the hell does Obama have to be proud of? |
