LOL

Blimey, I hope you don't treat your partner(s) like this Wink

A few weeks ago you hated TFK and especially Rone Stolt's guitar playing.

Then you announce that you suddenly love them and, despite being warned of the consequences, buy every album they ever released.

Now, having played about half of these albums (daunting for any new listener) you are suddenly "burnt out on TFK" Thumbs Down

You are some kind of compulsive character aren't you? Big smile

Slow down for crying out loud!! Wink

LOL
I'm pacing myself on TFK purchases.  I get one about every 10 years.  (SR and now BOE.)

You'll have 'em all by the time you're around 120 so that gives you plenty of time to become accustomed to each one. A far more sensible approach than Mirror Image Wink

.......unless the Middle East situation develops into WW3 in which case you'd better get cracking LOL

Aye, the Israelis are preparing to launch military intervention to attempt to curtail iran's production of weapons grade uranium/plutonium...mind you if they don't succeed the likelihood of tel aviv being nuked is reasonably high...so you can see the military imperitive...Mossad have been bumping off iranian physicists for several years but that is just postponing the inevitable....

Closer to 4 seconds of drumming bliss . . . 44 seconds would be totally redundant.

He's confusing Captain Capstan (44 seconds) with IKEA by Night (5 seconds).

Iran does not have any nuclear weapons.  Israel (and the US for that matter) would never invade a country that did.  Do a bit of research outside the mainstream media and you might be surprised.

Ok guys, I'm in a rut and need a few new bands.  Give me some recommendations.

I've heard a few bands mentioned on here lately, what are they like?

Universe Zero
Citizen Cain

Also, any other recommendation would be welcome, doesn't have to be Flower King related, doesn't need to be prog necessarily, I just need some new stuff to dig in to.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
Have you got any Nexus - thats good solid keyboard oriented symphonic prog.....

No, but thanks to Spotify, I'll be listening to them this afternoon.  Thanks Barney.
what did you think?

Nexus I liked, I was at work so nothing in particular stood out to me but I liked it enough that I want to listen to more when I have a chance to really concentrate on the music.  So yes, thank you, they're certainly worthy of further investigation.  I'll post more once I've had a proper sit down.  Thanks Barney.
I purchased the download of Nexus' new album Aire and I am currently listening to it.  Musically, very enjoyable.  Sadly I have no idea what they are singing about, but the singing sounds good.
Aye -m I forgot tp mention - Argentinian and they sing in their native tongue - Spanish, thats not a problem for me though as I rarely take any notice of lyrics - except when they are overly sentimental or gospel like....
Another band that you might want to check out is Brighteye Brison.

Anyone who has Tomas Bodin's "Sonic Boulevard" feel that a lot of the music just feels so..... sad?

But, I listened to his other album I have "I AM", and man, it gets me every time. It's such a powerful piece of music!

Banks of Eden is growing on me a lot, though Numbers still leaves me thoughtful and I fell like I need more time to fully get into it. Overall, it is a very good album, maybe one of their best and for sure better than Space Revolver Cool

^ I don't know 'bout that Wink

But BoE is VERY GOOD. It's been settling somewhere in the middle for me, probably rounding out my TFK top 5 at the moment (which rotates a bit for me, at least 4 and 5 do).

Have you guys heard the new Kaipa yet? Thoughts or opinions? I meant to get it this week but forgot, so maybe next week.

Anyone know what the word is on the new Karmakanic album? I could have sworn I read or watched an interview with Jonas where he said a new album would be out in August or something. Maybe it got pushed back?

Blimey!! May God (Not G.O.D.) strike me down, only an Englishman can ramble so completely as this. I'm taking the
above post to NASA for further analysis, but my initial take is that this lad doesn't agree with Roland113 or I.  Which is fine as few here are as charming & handsome as Roland113 & I...) Wink  We don't need approval from the lot of you!

M27Barney, I have chatted with you briefly before, and all I can do is invite you over for a good pale ale so you can listen to my 38 minute edited version of Garden Of Dreams and that may change your mind.  As for YES -Tales?  That is and always has been fine, except for the problem that it has not been mixed to 5.1. Tongue

As for The Whirlwind....all I can say is:

and the wind blew them all away......
and the wind blew them all away......

you really don't think that drags on a bit???

Seriously dude, I may defer to your proper English opinion for a single reason:

You have two lovely young ladies in your avatar and I have just one.

2 beats 1 by double the score, I believe.  Nice going!Clap

Unpopular opinion coming:

Sorry, I disagree one hundred percent about Garden of Dreams being their best piece.  Frankly, it's too long.  I realize that I'm bordering on blasphemy here but that's truly how I feel about it.  Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece, but too drawn out.  In my mind, three songs immediately come to mind as being better, "The Truth Will Set You Free", "Stardust We Are" and by leaps and bounds "I Am the Sun".  I consider myself patient and frankly, I like the longer drawn out songs to a certain extent, but anything that takes an hour to get to the final point has too high an opinion of itself.

Even the band themselves think it's too long, how much did they cut out of it for the 'Meet the Flower Kings' live CD?   . . . and yes, I realize that they cut parts out of their other epics, some of the ones that I mentioned, in their live performances . . . but still, an hour long piece is a bit much.

I think this is why I can't get into "The Whirlwind"  after a while I just want to be done with it.
Dear FishFace, Wink

You and me must be twins separated at birth.  You are spot on about GOD. It labors on horribly.  I edited it down to 38 minutes or so and now it rocks!  On record it dies a horrible slow death half way through....  Right again about The Whirlwind,,it bores me to death.  They repeat the same things to death...  Oh yeah..... "and the wind blew them all away"  I think Neal didn't preach that enough.  I think he needs to sing that about ten thousand more times.  I'm not really getting what he is trying to say....

Hmm, I am quoting myself here, THAT is kinda wierd.....

@Roland113:

Dude,Smile

You never responded to me after I got your back.  Was it because I called you "fishface"?Embarrassed   Sorry if that put you off,
but you do look like a fish in your avatar....  oh well.  I hope you are not sore at me!Smile

I am just really excited about the new ELP 5.1 DVD-Audio discs that will arrive any day.  When I get this excited
I become even more of a sarcastic & insulting cad than I usually am.  Sorry for saying "fishface".    Smile

Just havin a laaaaarf, it's unusual for this site to have two fans of the FK's saying that GOD is too long.....
I like the whirlwind (despite the god-bothering lyrics)......
And it pushes the limits of a single CD - and It's theme repetition is just what the doctor ordered as far as I'm concerned.........
Which bit of GOD did you cut out - 22 minutes seems an awful lot of chopping.....
I'm off to Spain for a week now - so I'll be back on the site on the 10th....

like i said, do some research.  there is no way in hell iran will ever have nuclear weapons.  the US would never allow it.  now, keeping Americans scared and getting us worried about Israel and perpetuating more hate for the middle east makes for good chaos....just like the US likes.
