Well at least we don't do it intentionally. the Taliban is living in the dark ages. That area of the world will never be stable. How do you fight an enemy that uses their  life as a weapon.

I'm not sure what you mean by us not doing it intentionally. We know certain bombs will hit civilians. We know that a probability of error exists even in cases when we do not expect civilians to be included amongst the damage. We just don't care.

We could not fight that enemy. Just a thought.

That is a fact. That is not a justification.

We didn't invent war. War was already here when we got here. We just got better at it than anyone else ever had. Kind of like how the Italians took pasta from Asia and made it into an art form.

Not really news of the day, but related to the whole war thing thing; Jihadist cockroaches vs murdering western invaders etc..

Council on Foreign Relations: Free Syria Army needs Al Queada..

CFR article

I'm sure it does. So what exactly is happening here? Our Islamist enemies fighting to overthrow Assad, alongside Syrians who genuinally want freedom, democracy etc. Al Queada want to establish an Islamic theocracy; in theory the polar opposite of what Assad presided over, and what the west want. I'd like to see a detailed breakdown of who we are actually suppprting in these uprisngs, how and why we are supporting them. I'm sorry, but I don't buy the BBC mantra that it's all about a spontaneous organic yearning for freedom. There's more going on in all this than makes the front pages...or more often than not the middle pages.

Assad is not an Islamist. He is neither Suuni or Shia. I think he is Aloite (?) but in any case, Assad is a secular dictator. Al Queada support the kind of Islamic theocracy that the Taliban presided over in Afghanistan for so long; no education for women, no music, no dancing, no fun etc etc..

Basically Assad is not a good man, but imo we don't want a country that borders Israel (among other reasons) falling into the hands of Islamic extremists, for blatantly obvious reasons. It may well not fall to islamists, but there is that risk, and we have used Al Queada before for our own ends. They are both a dangerous asset and a dangerous enemy. We just happen to have common foes. Lets not forget that it was the Carter government who first put together Al Queada to kick the Soviets out of Afghanistan.

I know that. I meeant it as a silly little joke. Why so serious? And I never said collateral damage can be justified it's a virtue of war. sh*t happens during wars.

he is a national tressure who with his monotonus voice a houshold name as a weather anchorer, and with his steady hand never told a bad weather broadcast, since 1980 to 2001 he was the rock of metrology in te National Broadcasting channel,  his stacato, monotone vocie was imitated by comedience, and is often imitated by folks who like to imitate charectaristic people he and the Gislefoss was often parodyised, to a degree which can be also called bullyed and went into nervous hideout Unhappy

Ex-Seal Team 6 Operative Writes Book On Bin Laden Assasination

I don't really have the time to write out the links but a guy who's real name is Matt Bissonette an ex-member of Seal Team 6 who was one of the first guys in ( right behind the point man ) has written a book entitled No Easy Day that is due for publication next month. It condradicts the official version in many ways. The Seal community is furious and the Pentagon is considering legal action against him but since the guy is highly decorated government lawyers think that this will b an obstacle for the prosecution. Personally I think the guy is a f**king a****le and has let his fellow soldiers down. I was in the military if we were told to clam up about something we damn well followed the order.

Yeah nothing more disgusting than a guy who tells the truth and allows citizens to accurate assess the actions of their government.

If you're not offering it as a justification, then you offer up a vacuous statement. We all know this, and it has nothing to do with the discussion.
