Jon has never mentioned leaving to me, exactly the opposite. We've never asked him to choose and in fact I knew before he did that he'd be the singer for both Yes and Glass Hammer. (That's another story for another day.) 


He's happy in both bands and we're happy for him. Steve Howe has Asia and Jon has Glass Hammer. That's the way Squire sees it I'm sure. If you read the recent interview with audioholics you'll (and the PA folks) will see just how happy he is doing both. All is well in GH world. He sings more on Perilous than he did on either of the last two albums. Glass Hammer is happy. Yes is happy. Prog is happy :) Woo Hoo!!! lol :)


PS: We WANT Jon to be in YES. Maybe it was all part of a clever plan??? <g>


p.p.s. Don't forget, new symphonic concept CD "Perilous" to be released this fall!  Steve tells me that the final mixdown sounds fantastic!!  I'm lobbying hard for some free MP3 downloads or samples that I can share on PA.

Jaw-dropping; the way that a band can be just a label, with anyone and everyone thrown in, yet still be accepted under that label defeats all logic. Why don't they give each lineup a different name? Or call it "Yes#45" or something of that ilk? Are the audience mere lemmings who accept such nonsense? The answer seems to be "Yes".

PS then again, I cant say they can really be blamed when Tull and Crimson et al get away with the same thing and laugh all the way to the bank.

The difference with both those bands, though much more so in the case of Crimson, is that they change and evolve.  I haven't heard Yes change and evolve (at least, not in a good way), since Drama.  When Fripp puts together new lineups, they have for the most part sounded like a different band (though some elements have been consistent.....but very few).

I have seen Yes in the 70s, 80s, and now 2012.  I thought Davison's voice was on par or better than Anderson's in his hey day.  We would always want to see the "classic" lineup of any band.  I enjoyed Yes's latest album released in 2011, Fly From Here.  Is it a "Close to the Edge", of course not but it does have some of the old feel to it, mainly in the title track suite and they nailed it live along with some of the classics including  Awaken.<p>
 
Jon Davison is excellent and I don't have a problem with him in Yes, but I do prefer he stay with Glass Hammer more.

Nice, thanks!  Which shows did you see in the 70's?  I saw CTTE tour in 1972 (after Bruford left), Relayer tour twice, and GFTO!  Great stuff!

Glass Hammer has a new CD coming out any time, "Perilous," and from the bits I've heard, it is killer stuff!  Jon Davison sang on that as well.  Friends call him "Juano"! 

If the two bands coordinate their recording and touring activity (AND if Juano's vocal chords hold out!), they may be able to make it work to mutual advantage.  Jon recorded his vocals for "Perilous" during a break in the Yes tour.  

Amazing to watch this play out!  Davison is the best of the I'm-not-Jon-Anderson vocalists I've heard, by far!  (although I always give generous credit to the amazing Annie Haslam for her "Turn of the Century" recording with Howe).  

Stay tuned, we may yet get some fresh music from both bands very soon!  I'll post "Perilous" information as soon as I can get some from the band!!  Cheers to all!

Jon Davison is a good fit with Yes.  cstack, weren't you talking about even last year when Yes struggled with Benoit David?  I would like them to do something interesting, though, now that they have a singer that fits well in their sound, instead of just touring and touring.

What I read was that Squire wanted to do a new album as soon as possible, 2013 it seems, now that they are working, while Howe indeed thinks they should nor rush it, but instead do it when they are ready. However, Howe also said he thought that they weren't ready yet for Fly From Here, which in a way he was right, since the best music on that album were leftouts from the 80's (plus the last song, which was a new one... I think written with the help of Oliver). Still, if after 10 years they weren't ready to release a new album, they would never be ready, and if they think the same way about the new one, they will never release it.

     Squire has said he liked the idea that Davison is also a writer, so I guess he is more than concious that they don't really have ideas to write something new. I would really love it if Oliver would come back to the band, and the bulk of the writing was done by him and Davison, with some help from the experience of the other guys.

I know for sure I saw the 1974 tour in VA where they did the entire CTTE and Tales suites, awesome.  Unfortunately as a sign of the times, the other show I saw in the 70s is a blur and missing from the memory banks...<p>
 
I am looking forward to"Perilous", however I do need to get "If".  I do have "Cor Cordium" (very good) and a few other earlier GH albums.<p>

This link was provided to me directly from Glass Hammer....Yes sound like they will work with Jon Davison on their next CD!  

Actually, I think this is quite exciting & I see advantages for both bands....by sharing Jon Davison, Glass Hammer hitches a ride to the Yes PR machine!  Not bad!  

Yes are probably winding down as a band now, more interested in legacy and quality of any further releases, so they are in no hurry to follow "Fly From Here" with a new release right on its heels.  Davison seems destined to have a composing role in the new CD.

I just saw this lineup in North Florida a few weeks ago. Great show until the storm knocked out the power. And the new vocalist sounds like early 70s JA.

Horn married former mathematics teacher and business partner Jill Sinclair in 1980. They have four children; two sons, Aaron and William, and two daughters, Gabriella and Alexandra (or "Ally"), the latter of whom has worked as a trainee solicitor. Aaron (known in the industry as "Aaron Audio"), like his father, is a musician and producer. He works with his band, Sam and the Womp and frequently DJs around London. Both Aaron and Ally Horn are co-directors of Sarm Studios.

On 25 June 2006, while at home from Goldsmiths College, University of London, Aaron was practising with his air rifle, not realising his mother was close by. A 4,5 mm. (.22 caliber) air gun pellet accidentally hit Jill in the neck, severing an artery and causing irreversible brain damage from hypoxia, leaving only her lower brain functions and no chance for recovery.

 She was rushed to Reading hospital intensive care unit where her condition was described as "critical but stable". She was initially reported to be under deep sedation in an induced coma. 

Communication from ZTT Records confirmed on 1 September 2006 that Jill is in a natural coma and had been moved to a rehabilitation centre. In September 2009, Horn told The Times that he preferred not to answer questions about his wife, but confirmed that she was still in a coma.

Horn said in a June 2012 Sunday Times interview that she is not in a coma, but, "She cannot speak, move, or smile. The only expression she can show is of discomfort."

I did find the song somewhat pleasing even then, though the sound quality didn't help at all. Now that they at last released it officially on studio, properly worked, I did find it very nice. Certainly not the proggiest thing they have done, but beautiful. And I find Davison's vocals work wonderfully on it.

I haven't heard Davison doing it (I'm sure there is something on YouTube, but can't really be bothered to look), but the album version was very nice. It is a very good song, and easily the highlight of an otherwise okayish album for me.
