Isn't there some threshold of replies where threads stop working when they get that high?  Evil Smile

We have to troll until it reaches 1000 pages and the admins have to close it.

So, to begin the process...

I'm 15 and I don't listen to prog metal at all. I started listening to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull when I was 12 or 13 not knowing what even prog is, but later i started liking Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Soft Machine, Larry Coryell, The Eleventh House... Smile And now my favourite genre is PROG :D

I'm older than Grandpa Munster and only listen to prog from the mid 16th century. Hey there are clasical music prodigies who listen to nothing but classical styles. Anything else in anethma to them.

Wow ! a kid that actually listens to The Eleventh House. You should also get into some early Mahavishnu Orchestra and Tony William's Lifetime.

It will! Us youngsters will bring chaos to ProgArchives for ever!

You want chaos? You couldn't handle the kind of chaos a 49 year old can create!

Thanks for recommendations, I have heard of them, I checked out a few songs today, liked it, looking forward to download whole discographies :)

I just listened to a few off "Lateralus" today; gotta love The Grudge, with all those arpeggios and waves of heavy riff after heavy riff after heavy riff...and then Maynard's 30 second scream is incredible.  The repeat of the "clutch it like a cornerstone" section is another of my favorite parts, very emotional and dramatic.  The lyrical message is insightful and meaningful also, which is nice.  I don't agree with all of Tool's lyrics but they hit the nail on the head here.

It's a pity I find their music so samey, because they really do some interesting stuff.  Maybe if I listened more often and more closely I would see it differently.

The whole point is it doesn't matter what you listen to and unfortunately, this is a very immature thread.

But when the thread is for people under 18, I don't know what people expect...

I'm 16. I try to find more and more progressive rock each day. The material on my iPod ranges from complex metal jamming from Dream Theater to the jazz fusion of Keith Tippett. I'm always open to new music types. Hell, there's even some hip-hop, alternative, and punk in my music selections! What I'm saying is that not all teenagers enjoy just prog metal. There are some (like myself) who want to expand their musical horizons, from the mysterious soundscapes of Earth and Dirge, to the chaotic free jazz of Miles Davis.
I consider drone metal to be progressive...

Is it bad I prefer their cover of Lark's Tongues In Aspic Part 2 to the original. I feel dirty just writing that...

I'm 15 and will listen to just about anything ranging from classic rock to prog metal to fusion to trance. I find that good music is good music and doesn't necessarily have to be a melting pot of signature changes and out-of-control mayhem (although it helps). I could listen to Echolyn one day, Megadeth the next, and AC/DC the next. That's usually my limit of simplicity though LOL

17 here. I love most prog both classic and new. Got into it through Pink Floyd when I was about 13 or so. I'm surprised at how many young people are supposedly on here.
