I was just wondering if anyone on PA had heard of the relatively new prog metal band, Borealis. They have two albums that I know of, are signed with Lion Music, and they are pretty good. They have a Myspace page,
http://www.myspace.com/borealismetal--- check them out. I actually prefer their first release, "World of Silence". to their second release, "Fall from Grace". I was just a bit surprised that I couldn't find them on PA.

Causing a tiger Carla Kihlstedt - Matthias Bossi - Shahzad Ismaily
kind of ambient album by the three, with so many sounds, Carla's violins, Matthias percussions, some European field recordings, and more. This is only my 3rd listen to this album, so I don't know much yet, but it will be revealed I'm sure. I bought this CD at RIO festival 2010, right from Matthias hands. Didn't know much about this album, but liked the outside cover (wood, trees), and the idea of Carla and Matthias cooperating. I'm expecting for many more delightful listenings.

Hello guys, I just wanted to recommend you a band I just discovered, called Mindwork. They are from Czech republic and play very progressive form of metal including jazz and art rock influences. Must for fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree or even Pink Floyd. Here is the sample of song from their upcoming album: http://soundcloud.com/martin-schuster-5/03-the-stream-of-causality And their facebook profile: http://www.facebook.com/mindwork Cheers, Ivan

If you like instrumental Jazzy Progressive Metal fusion, and/or if you like Joe Satriani, check out the new Counter World Experience album, Music For Kings. The reason I mention Satriani is the guitarist's tone and sound kind of reminded me of him. In any case, I found it very enjoyable stuff.

I recommend Helstar's 'a distant thunder' and 'Nosferatu'. These might appeal to fans of early Crimson Glory and Fates Warning.

A band that I recently found is Ocean Architecture. They're for fans of Opeth, Agalloch, and other extreme metal bands. Check out the songs "Plato's Cave", "Columns of Time" and "Metatheory".
