Probably my absolute faves as well.

I love Curved Air, but it seems they are not so popular around here.
Non Credo is amazing too.
Eskaton
Pentangle

Loads of females in Progfolk & newer R.I.O Avant

Not prog in the slightest, but for anyone who simply appreciates the beauty of the female voice in music, a little-known Canadian singer, quite similar in style to Loreena Mckennitt, just has to be heard (her song actually starts at 1:26 in this tube, but it's well worth waiting for, and it's a pretty decent vid to accompany the song):

That song is from her album 'The Trial Of Lancelot, and the album closes with this little beauty:

All her albums can be bought at cdbaby.com  HeartHeart

Comus had (has) a female vocalist but she did't necessarily "front" that band as Rodger Wooten was the lead singer. That's all I can think of.LOL

...Besides Renaissance of course.Big smile

A female fronted band I like very much is After Dinner (and, incidentally since she's the singer of After Dinner, I love various Haco albums -- especially Haco with Hiromichi Sakamoto's Ash in the Rainbow)

They are indeed rather scarce...I only found one myself...but it's an absolute beauty - this is simply gorgeous:

It's a Van Der Graaf Generator cover, but what the Hell!   HeartHeart

Edit: She (Geraldine Le Cocq) also guested, along with Jean-Philippe Brun of Halloween (violin) on Synopsis's second album 'Gamme' (1981): http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=19955:

And she was also part of the French 'Romantic Wave' band Mediavolo with multi-instrumentalist Jacques Henry:

Quite a lady...

I am currently listening to Proximal Distance's self-titled debut and they are fronted by Jessica Rasche.

^  She also joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Jeff Hamel (one of the Proximal Distance collaborators) on his main band, Majestic's third album 'Arrival', released in 2009:
Here's the epic last track from it:

Majestic have released two albums since which feature her, both of which are well worth checking out: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4942

I have that live show, this is a great cover. Thanks for posting it for I haven't listened to it for a couple of years now.

Glad to hear that. Merlin was my first album I got by them, now that I have all their albums I can say their latest Le Festin is really their best. Amazing set of songs but what strikes me the most is the incredible sound and production, everything is so clear and sounds so good! One of the best sounding albums I own.

Frumpy were mentioned in the other thread, and they deserve to be mentioned again. Heavy organ-laden prog with a vocalist who is nothing like Janis, despite willy-nilly comparisons in every review.

Also, Affinity. Lovely English band with one album and a lead vocalist who was a teacher both before and after her stint in prog.
Certified Obscure Prog Fart.

I saw MoeTar recently, a truly excellent female (Moe) fronted band.

Thinking Plague aren't strictly female fronted as they are Mike Johnson's band but they've always had excellent female vocalists.
