Big controversy here in the states is that NBC cut away from their tape-delayed airing of the closing ceremonies so they could show the premiere of a new sitcom called Animal Practice.  It was pretty stupid.  Apparently many viewers turned off the TV and didn't come back when NBC came back on to air the rest of the closing ceremony during Late Night viewing.  Me included, so I did not see Muse or The Who perform.

Just goes to show the talent in that man, Dean

One trick I think they did miss was to get Bowie to perform 'Heroes' as a closer for the ceremony; would have been an absolute cracker, especially if they'd had Fripp lowered in from a helicopter

The Australian Press were quite generous - and I guess we are pretty surprised especially after the hiccoughs at the start!  (North Korea Flag)

Anyways, today is the last day of the 'Paralympics' and this morning I was 'watching' the Ladies and Gents Marathons.  I say 'watching' as there was no live coverage (very little) due to the OBS not letting Channel 4 have live coverage.  So I was getting increasingly annoyed !  Booo!  (As we Brits say  to any stray Tory MPs who happen to turn up to any events!  (Yay!)  We got Gold in Mens The Weir Wolf and Silver in Ladies Yaay!

And I don't feel quite so hard done by!  Any thoughts in USA Land?

Sad its finishing and it has been very enjoyable.  Much of it has been equally if not more enjoyable than the Olympics and of course the stories behind the athletes put me to shame !  Loved the one legged High Jump, the Rugby that USA did very well in, all the Athletics and Basketball !

Did anyone elso out there watch any of it?
