Also,

Sunday night coverage was particularly painful on NBC primetime. Gah. Not a great night for America...esp with our vaulting princess landing on her backside during her second vault. Still somehow had a chance for gold, but wound up with silver.

Group play ends soon in water polo, handball, and field hockey, and quarterfinals have already completed in beach volleyball (at least with the women...not sure on the mens side). Things are gettin' going.

Little bit of a rant here - I don't know if this has been mentioned before, or if anyone actually cares that it bugs me but:

Since when did the asymmetric bars become the "uneven bars"?

Dumbing down??? I think so!

What next?

Archery becomes the "bow and arrow" event?

Canoeing the "skinny boat in rough water" competition?

Dressage the "upper class totty on poncey prancing horse" event?

Actually, that last one is the way I refer to dressage anyway

Apparently asymmetric bars was a quaint British term. Personally I think the women's event should be changed the Vertical Bar - however that may distract spectators from the Beach Volleyball.

What?

Laid down for more coverage with my wife last night.  The gymnastics again.  We had a conversation about the coochies.  Bad bad bad.  We also had a good time joking about how obvious a particular guy's state of circumcision was in the track competition.  Bad bad bad. LOL

And another GB gold medal (getting boring now )

1st showjumping gold since 1952 - the home crowd certainly seems to be paying off for our athletes

They have been called "uneven" in the US as long as I can remember (about 50 years).
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

What's uneven about them? They look perfectly level and smooth to me.

Another Brit gold in a sitting down event. If we can only come up with a way of running the 100m sprint sitting down we'd be laughing.
What?

Jason Kenny wins Gold on a bike.  (Sitting down most the time).

We will be soon catching up the USA and then will have China in our sites!

Anyway, I hear Morrisey has been having a pop at us being too patriotic.  Fed up of not being in the news I guess.  Big Mouth strikes again.
Help me I'm falling!

This is all my wife's fault.  I seriously have no interest in sports so I lay down next to her in bed last night and she, uh, points these things out.  The other night she pointed out the nice butts the gymnasts had.  So last night in addition to the guy we were impressed how in such tight leotards the ladies conceal vulvas and nipples.  Yeah, we're pervs.

As I recall I read somewhere the original olympics were performed naked.  And now that I've mentioned the above I bet you all will be watching a little closer.

God...what a dumbass call from the coach of the US women's water polo team at the end of regulation. Thank god they came back to win it in overtime.
USA to the gold medal match against either Spain or Hungary.

NBC coverage gets worse and worse...

Anyway, great day to be Iran. Taking gold and silver in super heavyweights weightlifting and silver in men's discus. Added to some wrestling golds, this is turning out to be quite an olympics for Iran.

Pretty much all the pool play games are down to their semi-finals (or quarterfinals for men's handball, water polo, volleyball...and probably something else I'm forgetting). Woo!
