You have support in me. I'm 19 and I used to listen to only metal. Now I listen to only prog. Old Prog. Foxtrot Genesis and Prologue Renaissance prog. I completely glossed over prog-metal. Honestly, I don't think I've missed much.

Hey, I'm 19, too! Glad you're into prog. Just don't forget to support the new prog artists who are out there. There's some really great ones, you just have to dig a little further. :-)
Nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy your stay and when you get bored, head over to progressive ears ... I've got some good friends there.
Prog on!

Renaissance are great. I saw them back in June doing Scheherezade and Turn of the Cards and met Annie afterwards. She was very sweet ... asked me where I was from, etc. She lives in PA, I believe. She and Dunford signed my Scheherezade CD.
I suggest the new Echolyn album. Its very melodic and 'symph-y' and the music will get stuck in your head for days, but its still challenging like prog should be and takes a few listenes to get. Also, Phideaux ... more dark symphonic, but his last three are brilliant. Great guy, too.

Wow man, that's great! I'd love to meet Annie and Jon Tout, but he doesn't play with them anymore. I've never been much of a pianist, but I love the way he could weave classics into their own prog songs.

Also, you should check out Aranis. Very much chamber oriented with a flute and violin. More on the RIO side, Univers Zero had a bassoonist, so if you're feeling adventurous, there's some great bassoon work there ... but that stuff isn't modern, its from the late 70s...

17 and I love everything BUT progressive metal. I'm a 70's man with a few albums from the 80's. I tend to steer clear of recent albums. Preferring 'classics'. Perhaps a personal bias, but every new album has that 'new' sound, no matter what they do. With the exception of Anthony Phillips. He still got it.

I was hating a bit on prog metal before, but now I begin to appreciate it more. Hell, I even like Images and Words.
