It's maybe not unusual, but I heard remixed and sped up Logical Song by Supertramp on a house music party yesterday (I was forced to go there :( ).

I wonder how many people recognized it.

Rush has been mentioned a few times throughout the series (along with Steely Dan).

Steely Dan was a vibrator in a William Boroughs novel first...

What an ultimate insult to MarillionCry

Love it! (and hate Marillion...)

Prog reference in the most unlikely of places --

At the end of the Reno 911! episode Spanish Mike Returns, there is a scene with Patton Oswalt at a renaissance faire. In the scene, he is confronted by Dangle and Junior (two of the deputies that make up the main cast) after he called into 911 to report a "verisimilitude rape". As they're trying to work out what he said, Junior says "Ver-mill-ion? Isn't that that band that was like Rush?"

In most of Reno 911, the scenes are improvised over loose outlines, so I suspect that the guy who plays Dep. Junior (Robert Ben Garant) must be at least a casual fan of Marillion. Rush has been mentioned a few times throughout the series (along with Steely Dan).

Ok, not really prog but tonight I heard "My own time" by Asia(from their second album Alpha)in the grocery store tonight. Pretty cool though. I mention it because I have never ever heard anything other than "don't cry" from that album on the radio or otherwise.

In the girls' gymnastics at the Olympics yesterday I could hear Pink Floyd playing in the background for one of the girl's dance floor routine.  NBC didn't show cover age of that performance though, as they were showing the US girls doing the uneven bars at the time.

Back at my old school, we had this old and very awesome Economy teacher(former assistant of a noble price winner and extremely smart). During his lessons, we occasionally drifted from the subject to talk about his past adventures. It turned out that he was a huge fan of oldschool prog in his days. The expression on his face when I told him that Tarkus was an awesome album was marvellous.'Such a young boy knowing records from my days!'. Then,he started to tell about his experiences at a Soft Machine concert while high on dope( All in front of our classroom!).

btw, first post!

What did he play?

Well, I came short of his performance by a couple of minutes. It was Tubular Bell apparently. No surprise at that though - his signature, celebrated piece. I'm not that much of an Olympics guy, but I watched the last couple of hours of that ceremony and there were definitely some goosebumps moments. I mean, it was so well run and you could just feel the energy within the stadium - it was spectacular.

It means that's the only time something like that's ever happened
