Horizons, you must have a heart of stone if you didn't get anything from Marillion's song The Great Escape. I just can't believe some people's ignorance sometimes. |
I'm sorry. I'll be honest though i didn't get through the whole thing - seeing i like it didn't care for it.

One of the greatest progressive rock albums of all-time IMHO. It's certainly one of the best of the 90s. |
Haven't heard it, but the cover looks interesting. Come to think of it, I really need to check out some of the neo-prog subgenre, I believe I've only ever heard one neo-prog album (Misplaced Childhood).

I don't think ignorance is the right word here, Austin's a smart guy.

I would strongly recommend hearing Marillion's Clutching At Straws first before you listen to Brave. Clutching At Straws is one of my all-time favorites.

A Script For Jester's Tear is my least favorite Marillion album. I also dislike most of Hogarth-era albums including Radiation, .com, Somewhere Else, and Anoraknophobia.

I'm well aware of this, but I just find it amusing that this guy can make a claim as Marillion's Brave being boring when he just stated that he didn't even listen to the whole album. Not only that but Brave requires more than one listen IMHO. I didn't really like the album on first hearing either, but it grew on me. There are still songs on Brave that I seriously believe that don't belong there like Paper Lies and I never understood why they decided to add Made Again and make it the "last song." This album isn't supposed to be about optimism. This clearly was an EMI decision instead a reasonable, artistic one.

Why even listen to music at all if you're not going to at least put a little effort into something? As much as I struggle with VDGG, and still continue to struggle with them, I'm making an effort to understand the band. I didn't just completely write them off because I didn't like the music.

I'd say listening to it is putting effort into it. No reason to waste time on something forcing yourself to enjoy it.
