![]() But, it is just so stupid. If yoo're a big family then well quids in. But, its not good for our health either. I sometimes buy crisps like this as they don't go off so quickly. But I end up eating twice as many packets of crisps .
Well wouldn't you know it?

^It's good for health if you're starving.
No one is forcing you to take the free second one (except perhaps in the example above) and no one is forcing you to eat it. Stop expecting the government to solve your self-control problems. |

I'm not starving. I don't really expect the Gov to do this. I expect that if enough people complain, then just maybe the Supermarkets will change what they do. How dare you belittle my addiction to marmite flavoured crisps.

They have marmite flavored crisps where you live? Man, if we had those in America, I would be all over them. Edited by thellama73 - July 19 2012 at 13:10 |

I have a real personal issue with shootings in general. Not to make light of the devistating and tragic event, but it angers me for reasons that the majority of the world around me feel are out of order. So..I get a little out of order myself. It's like...okay, now it's going to be a situation where security may be re-enforced to extreme measures in movie theatres right? Now there will be fear across the nation when families take their kids to the movie theatre. Just brilliant! Another dirtbag with guns. What's on his agenda? To be a celebrity like all the others? To go down in history? This is where my negative attitude sets in. Some moron..years ago...shot Amish children in a church and for what? What is the point? Look into the mind of the killer? I don't think so. It's pretty clear what the motive of the situation is here. These people want to obviously make a statement. It has been an on going pattern or fad since the first massive high school shootings. Take everyone's life and then take my own. What does that prove? Even the Amish are not safe? Is that the mentality? Bullcrap! The Amish will never reveal a sense of anger or give satisfaction to the gun freaks who find that particular tragic event laughable. And..there are many unfortunately that do. A lot of sick minded people who are influenced by this fad of shootings..whether or not they may take place on a campus, a movie theatre, or a toliet. The Amish did not react to the shooting in the way that the killer and his fans wanted them to. You cannot break a community like that and expect the same reaction you get from the innocent victims in the movie theatre. So...if there was a motive (which I'm convinced there is), then the killer failed. The attention aspect of it all angers me to no end. I interact with a young generation of special education students and a majority are turned on by the various shootings in this country..just as I was turned on by the Beatles in 64'. It's nothing but a fad and a repeated pattern to prove some kind of point. The incident in Norway was typical. There is nothing special about it. The FBI takes logical steps to address these killers. The important facts of these cases are reported 24/7 as the body count changes, observations are made on the history and upbringing of the killers, interviews with the survivors, journalists on a mission, people sitting watching the news..scared and disturbed out of their minds etc. It angers me that this is a pattern which ...so far...can not be fixed or addressed properly. Now parents will be afraid to take their kids to the movie theatre?

Please excuse my anger for issues like this. I am having difficulty with president Obama's speech this morning. To quote him...he said...We don't understand what drives people to commit these kinds of acts? I definitely don't understand the nature of politics regarding a statement such as this one. I am willing to admit that I am wrong because I don't fully understand the approach of political speeches. After giving music instruction to more than 40 teenagers over a 2 year period and the majority of them finding shootings to be laughable and cool....or the "in thing", let's just say that maybe to understand the concept, one must comprehend the fad itself. Teenagers have expressed to me that the killers who commit these crimes are personal icons. You can dismiss this theory by stating that if the individual kills in this way, he/she has psychological problems anyway. However, I clearly see the pattern of these shootings has created a following. That would mean to properly address this ..you would have to forget about focusing totally on the individual's psychological problem and make some sort of stand or change by creating a new law. I know, not guns again, but if a majority of youths are influenced , how do you re-program all of them? It's too late for that. A 6 year old girl was shot and she died this morning. I feel that I understand the concept behind this because I have personally steered my students away from believing in it. Most guitar lessons turned into therapy sessions. I'm only 1 person and to change the overall outcome of these tragic events, laws have to be created. It's become vast and something needs to be done. It doesn't always have to do with parenting and growing up in a nasty place. Kids who have wealthy parents are interested in shooting up the school...so how do you go about changing that without passing some sort of new and firm law?

After the Columbine shootings, security was inforced in selective schools, shy kids were suddenly observed and sent for council where it was suggested to the parents that meds would be an alternative to the problem. Parents would spend money on meds, a child psychologist, and if teachers did not follow these procedures immediately, then their jobs were on the line. These procedures seem to be more about the medical profession making money than a direct and healthy solution to the threating problems of today. Doctors have openly admitted that to me, claiming that the reports on children are mostly false. It is quite overblown to take precautions with every child that is shy. Like a routine that revolves around the evidence that the Columbine killers were misfits or loners. I'm sorry to say this , but an action such as this one feels moronic to me and is not the true solution for the ever expanding problem. Every year, or every 3 to 4 months out of a year, 12, 14, or 25 people die from bizzare and moronic shootings. I wonder often if that could be changed?

Unfortunately, I think that once the proverbial cat was let out of Pandora's Box, I don't know that it can ever be put back into the box. It was done and has been done and has left an impression on people's minds. For some it has the impact that they wish to prevent something like that from ever happening again, for some it is to make them crawl into a Safe Room and never come out, and for some unfortunately, it is an inspiration to commit a similar atrocity but bigger and better.
Ironically, movies like that Batman movie probably go a long way towards desensitizing people from the impact of that sort of violence. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people are killed in that or those types of movies. I would think that most people are capable of differentiating between reality and Hollywood theatrics, but not all are capable of doing that, and sadly these type of movies have the kind of negative affect that may cause them to go out and commit these type of murders. Same argument goes with video games involving mass killings and music that glorifies violence.

There are people that are not like me... that looked at these horrifying things and they saw something that was good or interesting. Or they were so interested in it that they began to look deeper into these acts. Eventually becoming desensitized beyond what I have been.
People are going to get more insane as we come to a cultural peak... I feel like this sort of thing cannot be avoided.
(excuse my spelling ha)

There wasn't a cat in Pandora's Box. The box contained all the evils in the world, and cats are most definitely a force for good. |

Things like this shooting just really make me feel funny emotionally, I can't even grasp within my imaginings the coldness or schizophrenia someone would have to feel to commit mass murder. Same thing happened with the Tuscon shooting two years ago, it just fills me with tears that aren't even sadness really just a large amount of despair. It makes me sick.
EDIT: And I didn't read completely, but if this was turned into a death penalty argument, how many guys like this do you see rehabilitated? It just doesn't happen. Edited by The Truth - July 20 2012 at 12:41 |
