So, I've been listening to the new album loads over the past week or two and the track that delights me the most at the moment is:
For Those About To Drown ![]() I just love this track as it's got everything I love about music in there: great melodies, superb musicianship, beautifully composed, etc, etc. It actually reminds me a bit of Timetable on Foxtrot - maybe it's the Kings and Queens lyrics and the general vibe. The only thing I don't like is where Roine pronounces the line "The Queen behind the veal" rather than "The Queen behind the veil" ![]() I also love 'For The Love Of Gold'. It's got a real Camel/Yes vibe. |

Hope you're OK........ I love that track and think it's really under-rated..............as is the whole of FP D2. |

Keyholder will be in my possession pretty soon. Can't wait, it'll be the first 2000s Kaipa album I'll be checking out.

In the Wake of Evolution is much better, despite the lack of Roine. Although Keyholder is the second best 21-st century Kaipa album. ![]() |

Most people have been saying Keyholder is the best, and I wanted one with Roine. I'm just hoping I enjoy 2000s Kaipa more than I did 70s Kaipa (which was just a little too 'soft' for me). |

2000s Kaipa is far cry from 70s Kaipa. I very much enjoy both eras.

Yes, Magic Pie is wonderful! One of my favorite performances from Hasse. Glad to see someone else finally appreciating it.

I still think Per Sodomizer Nilsson is a much better guitarist for Kaipa than Roine ever was. They're practically Extreme/Tech prog metal now. I'm pumped for their new album

Talking of Listening to CD's - that I've not listened to for a very long time...I was putting away, "Flower Power" when I looked at the CD's before the Flokis (Alphabetical Band order) and selected "England, Garden Shed" - just spun it and bloody hell - it's an EXCELLENT CD from 1977 - these geezers were obviously influenced by Yes, Genesis, Floyd and others say Gentle Giant - but I can't say coz I've never heard any GG, apparently this is a very hard CD to get so If anybody wants the MP3's just giz me your email on PA Mail....and I'll emither them through....Wouldn't do it if the CD was of a current band and not ROCK to source....It's a GEM of English prog....and FK fans are sure to love it....

I got Kaipa - "Keyholder", and it's great! I love it a million times more than the 70s stuff. Needs more listens, but it's fun symphonic prog.
I don't hear it. ![]() |

i had this idea that i was gonna be a completist with the TFK and related catalog. I've given up. It's really only the Flower Kings that get me going. I'm not even a big fan of the first Roine solo album, The Flower King. all these guys work best when together (Transatlantic being an exception). of course, i could change my mind tomorrow, but i'm really tired of 'trying' to get into stuff. i've been doing that with the first kaip and the first tangent.

I'll admit I'm still trying with Flower Kings. I just don't know how to take them. I think once the listener quits making an effort to understand music he doesn't like, then they should just quit listening to progressive music in general. I didn't like Yes' Drama when I first heard it, but I like it a lot better now because I'm trying to accept a recording on it's own merits. Now, if the music just doesn't do anything for you emotionally or intellectually, then obviously you shouldn't be listening to it, but certainly find out what you dislike about it and if you can honestly say you've given the music a fighting chance, then by all means do move on. I've spoken with several people who didn't like the new Hackett/Squire recording titled Squackett, but honestly I'm loving it. There is a song or two I don't enjoy, but I think it's great, but I've asked these people that didn't like it how many times they've listened to it and most of them said once or twice. That's not really a sufficient amount of time. I keep telling people to go listen to it again and if they don't like then come back to it in a day, a week, a month, whatever, but don't just give up. I've certainly not given up on Marillion's music, which I've been doing as of late, but I'm going to give them another shot and be more positive this time around. The same with The Flower Kings. Don't give up so easily!
