On cd:

Journey - Escape (used)
Radiohead - Pablo Honey (used)

Delain - We Are The Others
Jorn - Bring Heavy Rock To The Land
Gotthard - Firebirth
Circus Maximus - Nine

-- Delain - We Are The Others is female-fronted rock/metal. The band was started by Within Temptation's 1st keyboardist, Martjin Westerholt. We Are The Others is their 3rd release, and I must say is their best offering to date, though it is less metal and more 'music-for-the-masses' friendly. Just better songwriting, excellent production, and Charlotte Wessel's voice sounds fantastic (her voice was a bit 'shakey' on their debut, she's definitely had voice lessons since).

--Jorn - Bring Heavy Rock To The Land is another fine offering from Jorn Lande, one of the best singers in harder music today. Think Whitesnake-meets-Dio. He's gone a little bit more radio-friendly since Pagan's Mind guitarist Jorn Viggo Lofstad has stopped working with him, but still a quality release.

--Gotthard - Firebirth is Gotthard's 1st album since the death of lead singer Steve Lee in a freak accident a couple of years ago. The new guy, Nic Maeder, will do very well with the old Steve Lee songs, but also brings his own voice to the table. Firebirth may be their best album since the classic 'Lipservice'. For those unfamiliar with Gotthard, think arena rock a la Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams.

--Circus Maximus - Nine is, after 3 listens now, my favorite CM album (out of 3). They started out as a Dream Theater/Symphony X cover band and it showed on albums 1 & 2, prog-metal like Dream Theater but with a hint of power metal like Symphony X. This 3rd album 'Nine' is less metal than the other two, with more mature songs, more keyboards (or at least brought forth in the mix more) and excellent production. It still rocks out, dont get me wrong, but you can tell they've found their own voice and stepped away from just being a DT clone.

their best for sure. But I have problems with the remastered version (I don't recognize the original sound of drums - a real disaster, also vocals are at times different than in the original version), therefore I prefered to buy the original version.

Been listening to Metallica recently and I thought I had too little metal records in my collection. The one I've got is the (remixed and) remastered version. What else by them could you suggest? Smile

Peace Sells... But Who's Buying

Bought it yesterday. Thanks! Big smile

Just received an interesting little progressive deathcore album by My Bitter End. Cheap on Amazon with good reviews on that site (no reviews yet on PA). Listened to it on the way in to work. Pretty damned good, but not gentle background music!
