Steven Tyler and J. Lo have both left American Idol.  http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/16/randy-jackson-speaks-on-j-lo-steven-tyler-leaving-idol/ Time to add Steven Wilson and Roine Stolt as the next judges, and make the show worth watching. LOL

Personally, I think the show was missing a huge a****le to act extra crazy.

This is why I vote for me to be the next judge. I'll be worse than Simon Cowell. I will tear their minds and dreams apart... bit by bit. I'll string up their metaphorical mothers inside their vocal chords.
You could insist that the contestants demonstrate their grasp of the music by transcribing their parts out on staff paper.

And I would barrage them for their choice of songs all the time. I'd be like "That song really showcased your voice, which really wasn't all that bad... but honestly I was bored to f**king tears. I'd rather lick Whitney Houston's corpse's t**t than listen to that song again. Who was that song by? Oh. Carrie Underwood. No comment... except I'll be calling her publicist to ask for an apology for that disaster. Oh yea, also, your lack of vibrato is killing me.

Next singer goes...

God, what a great song you picked there. Good thing you double-fisted it in the ass. I'm going to show you what I think of your performance. (Whips out knife and violently cuts his own arms up.) YOU SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME DO? YOU SICK f**k! WHY DID YOU MAKE ME DO THAT?

Maybe then I'd watch. LOL

What can I say I know how to entertain. I mean, do they want ratings or not?
I would also make it my goals to get kicked off the show for irresponsibility, making contestants suicidal, and substance abuse.

"Pretty good there. I'd say you're better than Britney Spears OR Ke$ha, but that's like saying you're taller than Ryan Secrest. AM I RIGHT RYAN?? But at least you have a soul... I mean, Ryan, miss Spears, and Ke$ha had theirs raped by the devil ages ago."

I saw this http://www.lakeplace.com/lakefinder/mi/mason/emerson/53-71 on my drive to vacation this weekend.  I kind of felt bad for Palmer.

My wife got roped into that show.  I've given it a shot, and I even like American Idol from time to time, but The Voice just bores me to death.  The premise itself just seems like a non-event: see what would happen if we chose the best singers by only hearing their voice, and not how pretty they are/aren't.  Now that's progressive thinking!  Think of all the great talent that could be lurking out there in the sewers, waiting for their shot at the big time...

Smurph might appreciate this premise though, based on one of his earlier rants.

I do like the premise of the voice but the execution is just awful.

It's just not that exciting a premise, that's all.  Like listening to music without seeing it is some great new frontier of musical appreciation.

The Voice basically came about because of that woman in England who "surprised" everyone by winning British Idol, or whatever the program is called there.  I can't say that I was impressed by what I heard from her, but really just not my cuppa.
