Easy Rider by Peter Fonda
90 minutes that passed by like 10. This was one of the classics from the 60s that I was missing, and it fullfilled my expectations. Great dialogues, Jack Nicholson's acting is fantastic, the music, a must-watch.

I have recently added Rushmore, Bottle Rocket and Darjeeling Limited to my Wes Anderson collection. I enjoyed them all but still rank Tenenbaums as my favorite and Life Aquatic second.
Have not seen Moonrise Kingdom yet since I wait for movies to come out on DVD.
I'm not crazy about sitting in a dark room with a bunch of strangers.

This was actually THE film that really made up my mind about not taking drugs. It was just ... ok, no spoiler alerts.

Eagle Eye
A potentially good premise is butchered as two young adults are compelled to run a gauntlet of impossible odds helped along by a faceless voice on a cellphone. With touches of similar but better films as Enemy of the State and Final Destination, events grow increasingly unlikely as the hand of Hollywood - and Steven Spielberg - cheapens an otherwise smart plot. |

Shia dealing with the fact that he was thought to be the lesser of identical twins.
Michelle dealing with being a single parent.
Billy Bob and Rosario butting heads over jurisdiction and seniority.
The story line was interesting having one twin locking up a computer and then being murdered and the only person in the world that can unlock it is the identical twin.
(BTW, I wonder if identical twins have the same fingerprints?)

I Don't Know How She Does It
If you think I'm writing a review on an obscure drama masterwork you are sadly mistaken. It's a cheap drama-comedy with a dash of Hollywood perversion. The story is centered on a mom of two who spends most of her time away from her family and thinks she can get away with a s$%tload of responsibilities in every role she is plays. Then it all comes down to a smooth climax with a happy ending. Then you know the rest. Well, that's the thing - there is no "the rest". I guess what I'm trying to say is that it lacks all sorts of depth, even though the movie is quite engaging in a few places. ** / ****

Haven't seen the first, and heard that the two films are not even remotely connected.

The Grey
Raw and intense action as a planeload of oil workers crashes in the Alaskan wilderness and are stalked by a pack of huge, aggressive lupines. It's up to the ever-faithful Liam Neeson and his hunter's experience to save the survivors and keep them out of the wolves' jaws. |

Just finished Stay (2005) and what a mindf**k it was!
I thought I had it all figured out pretty early on then I was completely sold, but the ending did make sense due to all the past events in the film. Really good thriller, somehow reminded me of Mulholland Drive and the Shining. 8.5/10 Edited by Bj-1 - July 11 2012 at 15:28 |

Didn't know about the extremely large man-eating wolves.
Big difference.

Hobo With A Shotgun - 6/10
Holy cow, was this movie gory! The premise is that Rutger Hauer is a hobo who just hopped a train to this new town...everyone/thing is corrupt, brutal murders/child abductions/prostitution/drug abuse/etc is the norm. A man and his two sons practically run the town, and they are some of the most brutal people there. After our nameless hobo hero sees some of the brutality, he finally snaps...grabs a shotgun and becomes the title character! The storyline is...laughable, but they weren't trying to take themselves too seriously with this one. The gore is over the top, which I think was the plan. Character development (and the characters themselves) were not the greatest, and the music really reminded me of an 80s horror/action flick. ![]() Overall, I'd say that if you're at all opposed to absurd violence in a movie which doesn't take itself seriously, then don't watch this. If the violence doesn't bother you, then maybe consider it if you want a good laugh. Not a masterpiece of the gore-comedy genre (which includes IMO movies such as Dead Alive, Re-Animator, the Evil Dead series, etc), but a fun watch. |

Akira - first watch I'm already thinking with very high numbers on a scale of 10. No rating yet, because I've only watched it once, but I loved just about everything about the movie. The soundtrack is what first got me interested in seeing it; Geinoh Yamashirogumi is basically incredible, and while checking out their albums I saw they did a soundtrack for a movie...then I started looking into it. Science fiction? I'm intrigued. Supposedly one of the best anime films ever created? Make that double intrigued. Then I promptly forgot about it for a couple years. Last week, during Amazon's big sale on anime, I finally decided to blindly grab it. Showed up today, so I watched it and thought everything was well done, from the aforementioned soundtrack to the storyline to the animation. I'm intrigued to read the mega-manga now, a daunting 2000+ pages in total...

Agreed - as a companion piece, I'd recommend Shooting Dogs ![]() John Hurt in top form throughout - not an easy movie by any means, but a fine one. |

Good (2008)
Caught it yesterday on T.V and got hooked. I enjoyed it a lot, but I do have something for movies that are settled in periods of war, especially my curiosity for World War II. There are probably better movies concerning the nazi ideology and arise and how it affected people, but the plot was not bad at all. Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs make a good job. However, I've just came to realize that I now found very weird and unfitting for a movie dealing in another country and yet speak in english. Enjoyable if you like world war II-related films, depending on your knowledge about the subject, you'll be more critical than others. The Vanishing Lady (1978) I also caught this on T.V. today, and trapped me equally, haha, since it also concerns 1938 Germany. Although the focus is on a mystery and conspiracy aboard on a train. It's based on Hitchcock's film, and those who've seen that, will probably destroy this movie, but since I haven't watched the original, I can't tell. I liked it, very much, enjoyed the actors, the British especially. I wouldn't have told it was from the 70s with the exception of the shooting scene. Fun.
