Affairs are so metal. But yea I actually had his first CD of joke songs when that came out. It was really funny to me when it first came out... but I was like 14? Ha- He's not TERRIBLE but I prefer Conan, Craig Ferguson, and Kimmel more than him. But really, it is hard to be a better talkshow host than Eric Andre. He's my new favorite. Well, its more of an existensial study of talk shows and their elements.

And i'll admit though he does do pretty good impersonations with his voice. But it's kinda like Frank Calliendo. Impersonations are cool for about 30 seconds and after that... they get boring unless of course you're Will Ferrel or Phil Hartman. Basically you have to be a comic genius.

I have that earlier Fallon album too. I like him OK - he's just a likeable guy who can relate to the young people. He likes hip hop, for one thing.

He did that one impression of Jim Morrison and the Doors, performing a
Doors soundalike song with a real band, using lyrics taken from a
children's book. Now THAT was genius.

Umm... what?
....
But you got me turned onto Shaun Micailef so I give you one freebie.
And you were right Shaun is pretty awesome. I watched some weird sketches he did that were just awfully hilarious. Reminded me a little of Mr Show and Monty Python. Mr Show is def my fav sketch show of all time though. Once you see that show it makes every other show a little less funny. :-D I love it.

I accept that hip hop exists and that people really get a lot out of it, even though I have no interest in it whatsoever. Same thing with Twitter and gaming. Just completely over my head. So I can "relate to the young people" in the sense that I admit that I can't presume to understand what they're on about. That kind of makes me meta-cool, or "post-hip", as I like to say. |

Underground prog-type hip hop is great. Deltron 3030 is amazing. But seriously 99.99% of hip-hop and 100% of rap I do no understand.
In fact, I dont think I understood young people when I was 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and now. I don't think I get "culture." In fact, I f**king hate most of it. I'm like an angry Grandpa from the future trapped in a youg man's body.

Haven't seen Mr. Show, I'll have to check that out. Glad you like Shaun Micallef. What show were those sketches from?

The Shaun Micailef sketches I have no idea. One stuck out to me where these immigrants were moving to Australia and they both had doctorate degrees and were really good people and he was SUPER skeptical of them and extremely rude to such a degree that I laughed a lot. Haha. I just typed Shaun Micailef into youtube and went with one of the things. No way to look it up while at work now.

Well, they do even more metal and like lounge jazz. Apparently they have 4 albums. I cannot seem to find them. It's a friend's bass player's old band. I'm going to get those releases if it's the last thing I do!!
Also, this band called The Husher was the other project of theirs and apparently that one is even MORE Jazzy and avant-garde and crazy. haha |
