Since these polls had taken control the prog polls section, we should do a section for Survivors only on the music related lounges. Yes, I am an avoid user of the Survivors. You probably know me for my Gentle Giant and King Crimson Survivors. But I want to let a chance to the other polls.
And why on the music related lounge and not on the prog related lounge. Because we can do survivors such as the Céline Dion survivors. LOL

Hell no. I'm an avid avoider of Survivor polls, and if we all avoid them perhaps they'll go away.
What?

I don't want them to go away. That's a solution for people who love the survivors.

It's a fad - last year it was Ladder Tournaments, next year it will be something else. I remember tamagochis, clackers and hoola-hoops - they never last.

Still a lot of people are enjoying them and a lot of them are voting, so I guess it will take a lot of time for them to go away.

If it's any consolation, once the Dream Theater one is over, I'm done (for now).

Not a Survivor-only forum, as I wouldn't want to give that such a pedestal; however, I think a Prog Tournaments type forum might be warranted.

If you mean the band who did "Eye of the Tiger" then I completely agree with you!

I just don't see much of a problem with the Survivor polls.  In substance, they're not really different from the polls we usually have anyway ("what's your favorite song from ______?").   I vote in them and make comments just like I do for any other poll.  I don't get the feeling that they're "taking over" or inconveniencing anybody.  I guess the one bad thing about them is the sheer number -- meaning if I try to start a different poll of my own, it's likely to get flushed off the first page pretty quickly.  But that's not the fault of "Survivor" per se -- it's just that polls are unusually popular right now.

That sounds like an excellent idea, actually.  It would separate the tournaments that tend to take up so much of the poll section from the other polls, which would give people a chance to create polls about some other things and still get a decent number of replies.  That would solve all poll fad problems, not just the Survivors.
