Doing well Tanner, thanks. Just got back to my Georgia vacation home, can't wait to return to Florida though on Tuesday.

I'm starting to get the urge to write more reviews, which is quite fun. I'll try to write some shorter ones every so often, not all of them have to be 1000 words (possible exaggeration).

You should bump the poetry thread here with one of your newer poems. Since you've taken your blog down at least...

I'm also glad you gave Noctourniquet a 5* review! Great job :D
I would review TMV in my spare time, but words couldn't conjure up the feeling i feel about them. I'm pretty sure i know which to rate them all - All 5* except Octahedron and Bedlam, which are 3 stars.

Vacations are good, you sound like a stud with a vacation home and what not. Shocked

I took my blog down because I sent in a manuscript to be judged for publication and the work can't be seen on the internet in any form so that was a precaution. I might post some of my recent stuff in the thread though.

Noctourniquet is a five star album no doubt and needs a higher overall rating, get to it! Stern Smile

Nah just visiting some family here, not like i have 4 homes scattered around Earth. Tongue

If any TMV album needs a higher rating its Amputechture! I'll be reviewing Frances first when i have the time. I don't like reviewing albums with more than like 10 songs. I enjoy doing song-by-song reviews, so doing very long albums can get tiring sometimes. When i reviewed Gloss Drop, i reviewed the 4 vocal songs and 4 instrumental highlights. I though that worked out length wise, plus its good to elude some tracks so if they do decide to listen they don't have a complete road map the album, that's the only problem i have with ACR. His descriptions are too detailed. Oh well, helps to have different styles i guess.

Surreal, emotional, hopefully indefinable kind. I really don't know exactly.

Ah man, I hate song-by-song reviews. They're my least favorite because for me its all about how the albums sounds as a whole. But Alex told me they look for song-by-song in prog reviewers so I've made a couple like that.

Yeah, Frippism if you want a phenomenal Math Rock band and record, look no further to Battles. Really intricate, frantic, up beat, fun music. One of my favourite band this past century. Ian Williams used to be head of Math pioneers Don Caballero; they split 10 years ago and Ian formed Battles in 06, I believe? His tapping guitar style is signature, and highly influential on Math guitarists. Listen to the debut as well. A bit lighter in comparison to Don Cab.

(a little late replying here, but....)

I wasn't aware that there was a link between Battles and Don Caballero.  I did know that the Helmet drummer (Stanier?) is in Battles.  It makes sense in a way, because Battles and Don Cab are both bands I should like, have listened to, but which just haven't clicked with me, and I can't see what the big deal is.  Time will show the wiser I suppose.

I try adding a paragraph or two about the overall sound of the album, at least the approach each musician has with their instrument. I enjoy trying to improve my reviews, thats why i always ask for input - good or bad.

I haven't been able to focus on anything lately, I'm single, and my knees are slowly disintegrating.
