Relax, man, I believe you. I don't care what PF websites say, more than so do I not care about what Wiki says. But if Storm himself said so, I'll go with that.

One day I wish that my word would be good enough to go with, but until that day - whatever.

What?

I see you're continuing to be the most offensive person it's been my displeasure to meet on this forum.

Wiki is a place where anyone can write anything about anything, although I see a lot of citing, and that's good ... which is not to say that those articles are written by professionals.
PF websites? Depends, really. There may be official and unofficial ones. Depends on who is writing and what source he is using as his reference. Until I don't find out where the info comes from, I won't seriously consider it unless it's something I already know.

I really have no idea what gave away the "offensive" part ... . Oh, well. Since you did cite Storm as a reference, that's where I would take your word for it and not go any further, just to get things clear here.

What were they thinking? I assume this was a single, right?

How do you? Man, it's all blurry.

Simple - you squint.
|
Maybe it's not a tree. Maybe it's night sky with some sparks in the foreground. S#$%w it. Whatever. |
No "What-ev-er" - it's a man in a tree - Wikipedia says it's a man in a tree, most PF websites say it's a man in a tree and most importantly Storm Thorgerson says it's a man in a tree in his book 'Mind Over Matter - The Images of Pink Floyd' - in fact that's the exact bloody phrase he uses: 'The slide in question - a man in a tree - soon came up and the defocused lens caused the little chinks of sunlight between the leaves to expand and transmute into incandescent hovering spheres, reminiscent of the old bubble slides of early Pink Floyd concerts'. (page 46).
So no "What-ev-er" - it's a man in a tree - you can see "what-ev-er" you sodding well like, you can see pink pigs flying over the surface of Cirus Minor for all I care, but it's still a man in a tree. |
I cant believe people cant see that its a man in a tree!!!!
I dont own the album, but As soon as I read about it on my iphone official Pink Floyd application I searched it and checked it out. The man is there as plain as day. And Gilmour quotes that the slide was put in incorrectly and was too blurry but it was just what they needed to add a mystery to the cover. It also looked psychedelic so it was fate really and they went for it. Interesting cover though pretty bad.

After owning the album for 20 years, I had a revelation last night: Yes, there is definitely a man in a tree on the cover of Obscured by Clouds.

This thread is not a great place to have this conversation. I can't believe I fell into this trap.

OK, everybody above, listen up: I believe you! A yellow dude in an orange shirt ... in a tree.
Let's move on.
