The whole first part of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence sounds like Mario 64 music.

^ lol The Overture? I kind of agree, but you have to figure that most video game music is created by actual music composers. I can say some classical music would sound like video game music if played on keyboards.

Ture. The guy who composes the Final Fantasy music is a genius.

Take something like Sonic the Hedgehog (the green level). When performed by a symphony, it no longer sounds like video game music, and actually sounds like a modern classical piece.

When DT played SDOIT with the orchestra, it sounded more like a classical piece too (unfortunately the orchestra was a little under-rehearsed....)

I have the Score DVD and I enjoyed that performance of it.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing that the overture sounds like video game music. I luv videirgayem music.

I wasn't saying it's bad either (I guess it sounded like I was defending the opinion). I do find it irritating in real life when someone says something sounds like video game music; it's usually someone who has not been exposed to a lot of music besides more popular/mainstream (whatever that means anymore).

Who you seeing?

Umphrey's McGee in Asbury Park, NJ. It's about a 25 minute drive for me.
That will be a cool show.  I've not seen them although they've been near here a number of time.
