I actually have tried some Cynic - I really like the album "Traced in Air" but didn't care much for the other stuff I heard by them for whatever reason.  I'll have to see what this "Gorguts" is all about.

Can't say I do - the only reason I've heard that name was (I think) because they toured with Animals as Leaders.  I might have to check them out eventually.  I have a long list of things to check out, though, even after the many things I've already listened to.  Sooooo much music....

Just have your paycheck direct deposited to a couple of music sites and you'll be OK.

between the buried and me are 'progressive metalcore'... and they play a shed-load of notes, so i guess that means they are 'progmetal' around here -their main guitarist is some kind of shredmonster... obviously = progressive-i liked 'colors' pretty well

'real prog metal' what's that? a brand?... 'obviously=progmetal' was a joke just like the 'passion' comment was clearly tongue-in-cheek... i would call it 'real prog metalcore' - the breakdowns, vocal phrasing, and transitions are straight out of the post-hardcore, metalcore tradition... their style harkens back to the original 'underground' incarnation of metalcore bands like (early-mid 90s)early converge, coalesce, and earth crisis... not the later commercial(early 2000s) stuff... and yes the tremolo riffing is adopted from florida death metal... but all metalcore bands used that style as well
