Also, I'm quite sure Slarti put the emphasis on the word "corporate" without noticing this tiny little word "government" at the start of the heading.

So?  I don't maintain that our social welfare system is perfect either.  He also points out that it was reformed. 

He also points out how corporate welfare drives the need for social welfare.

You will never convince me that we don't need safety nets to help those who don't fare well in the capitalist system that we have.

I was quoting Paul Krugman and that was his observation.  You blew off his observations because it doesn't fit what you've been told.
