T Prigden left because Cedric and him had it out- Tprig is young and crazy and does drugs and stuff and I guess that didnt like having that around because of their past.

Also, I think omar was realizing that Tprig is great but that he's not quite as versitile as he wanted him to be.

Although, if you listen to Omar's solo albums with Tprig they're very good. Xenophanes and Calibration come to mind.

That's why they should have kept Jon. The guy was extremely versatile and willing to play rhythms that benefited the music well, rather than Thomas, which I do love his style of course.
Yeah, I can see Omar as being a bit stubborn and controlling. Well, I mean, it's his music anyways so he should be in control of how it's going to sound as finished product. Was Omar and Cedric still smoking at the time? They do in one of the music videos, though, that's only a music video.

I know they still smoke because Cedric talked about it one tour while on stage.

And I have seen them in some crazy video which was like the weed championships in Amsterdam.

But I think they're totally cool with just smoking- those guys just work their asses off when they do it.

And tbh, i think it's just Omar working his ass off on it. Nocturniquet is a good example of how slow Cedric works. What a lazy b*****d. I try really hard to be like the Omar of my band and they hate it but hey they need me. :-)

This is what I find:
Mahavishnu Orchestra + King Crimson + Led Zeppelin + Black Flag + Santana = The Mars Volta Cool
Especially Mahavishnu and King Crimson, in terms of Omar's guitar style. All those dissonant arpeggios and augmented, modal playing reminds me so much of Fripp. The intricate, jam, shred side of Omar, I can totally hear in John McLaughlin. I also hear Bruford and Cobham in Jon Theodore's drumming. Cedric's vocals are Robert Plant esque, but much more unique in my opinion.

Bubu
Cervello
Osanna
Banco Del Mutuo
Il Balletto Di Bronzo

All pre 80's and some of what they did is just like Volta.
They remind me a lot of Deus Ex Machina as well.  Who, of course, also draw from those bands you mentioned.

Agreed. I don't like monarchies. Britian isn't a monarchy, anymore, really, so that's even more reason to phase em out. The prime minister runs everything now. Phase em out, they don't deserve what they have!

I saw that mag the other day and thought the same thing.  Minus the F word, because I never swear.

It's a part-time computer lab monitor position at school. Should be simple, but I probably won't get hired.
