An interesting take on gay marriage.

While I am fine with it being legal, I would prefer to see marriage period handled more like this.

You can continue that secession on down to the individual level. No political makeup is going to lead to 100% satisfaction among all the populace. Maybe it would make sense to secede a little bit, but then you'd have factions of a once-state dealing among what are interstate boundaries when they were once interstate. I don't really think that's a solution. I think it's all right that there are differences. It's up to the people who want reform to state their case and sway minds of other, either with the current state boundaries or any fictional ones.

Absolutely horrendous, Jim. I don't understand why things like this are not mainline history.

This is one of the reasons Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian in particular from SOAD have campaigned in the past for awareness of these atrocities and for them to be officially recognised as state planned genocide of the Armenian people.

There's lots of genocides that have been committed that the West ignores. When the people are brown, our history books tend not to care.

There's an element of truth to that, but remember that there has been a huge amount of anti-Semitism in the US, especially historically. Yet we still very much cover anti-Jewish genocide. I think it boils down to an honest lack of awareness - not some malicious group trying to keep the information hidden. If more people were aware of things such as the Armenian genocide, then it would start showing up in the history books, which would in turn create further awareness. People aren't quite as brutally ethnocentric as your statement suggests.

This isn't a big conspiracy theory point. I'm not saying that's what is happening, but it is to some degree undeniable that the winners write history. Sure there's an anti-Semitic bias, but there's also a lot of Jews who are also writing history books. I think its disingenuous to say that historians, the people writing textbooks and history specials, are unaware of a watershed event such as the Armenian genocide. It's just the sort of event that doesn't seem to concern Western people.

U.S. history books aren't exactly fond of talking about lots of these events. You can't argue that historians aren't aware of them. I don't think it's a huge assumption to say that the reason that we never hear about the Filipino genocide is because the United States government committed it and it happened to colored people a long way away from home.

Thus surpassing all the good deeds I've done in my life at her tender age of 9.

The kind of everyday knuckle-dragging lack-of-empathy cruelty for entertainment's sake that chills me to the bones. Indicative of everything rotten everywhere.

Another symptom of the decline of western civilization. Children today can't be any more narcissistic, lacking in empathy, and to top that, stupid.

In 30 years the US will be a country full of obese video gamers and syliconized whores...

At least Ms. Klein will have a fortune to show for it after the next 29 days have transpired.  Her donors are up to $300,000 now.  I hope she gets enough to give those indecent b*****ds the finger and retire in style.
