I strongly recommend all PA members to check out Colin Mold's two albums as well as Fauns from Germany who have 2 delicious releases.

^ You probably meant Faun. I'm looking in Wiki, and it says: pagan folk, medieval music, darkwave. Is this true? Sounds like an interesting musical direction ... or directions.

I recommend Ange's new album Moyen-Age, one of their best, at least in their top 3.

^ Sorry, my bad. Thanks for the clarification. I see "prog folk". I hope some time I will get around to listening to those albums.

I recommend Weather Report's Heavy Weather. Tracks like "Birdland" and "A Remark You Made" are Classics
(although not my favorite Jazz-Fusion Tracks, that would be "Los Endos" and In That Quiet Earth" by Genesis,
"Nuclear Burn" by Brand X, "Hell's Bells" by Bruford, and "Birds of Fire" by Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I see this is not the band the original poster meant, but it is a good description of Faun's music - they are a great band! |

^ Looks like a pretty tough jam ... or composition. Maybe the drums are a bit too noisy to hear the rest of the group, but otherwise it's a pretty listenable piece of math rock.

About as original as it gets imo. from the UK Some great humour in some of the lyrics too which can be missing frequently in today's modern Prog. Also some great catchy chorus's, another thing that can be missing these days. Very colorful and melodic.

... have a listen to "A Throne for Elyas", a new band from Saarland (Germany). They seem to offer an interesting mix of Tech / Extreme and melodic, shouts and vocals... band website is at: https://www.facebook.com/throneforelyas/app_2405167945 and they have their 1st album out. Not sure if it fits into the scope of Prog Rock...

The Observatory
Singapore's most progressive band in terms of songcraft and sonic experimentation. Their 3rd album a Far Cry From Here was a prog rockin' behemoth while the 4th, Dark Folke, is an acid folk magnum opus. Their latest album Catacombs is their darkest densest most adventurous work. Check out their stuff here: |

If you like psychedelic prog or space rock check out my band from Australia. Would welcome some more reviews!
I've been loving Gorgut's 'Obscura' as of late. I don't know why more death metal isn't accepted on PA, it's some of them most progressive music around in a rock format. I supposed it's just too removed from the composition of rock music to be appealing to a lot of rock fans.
