I listened to the Beatles for a few hours yesterday.  My 6 year old daughter is already a huge fan, she knows all the songs.  She sat there singing along with the lyric sheet in hand.  The Beatles have never been topped, and they likely never will.  It's one of the groups the whole family agrees on, and we can listen to them anytime, anywhere.

Me Too. Paul and Ringo are probably celebrating that.
John and George are celebrating this in heaven.

Today is not the anniversary per se, but there's a particular milestone coming up.. August 22nd is the 50th Anniversary of the first group photo taken and first live performance of the Beatles with Ringo.  Coincidentally, exactly 7 years later, on August 22, 1969, the last picture of the Beatles was taken.  That's what the BBC broadcast talks about, among other things.

7 years... geez.  It takes that long for Peter Gabriel to brush his teeth these days.  And the Beatles recorded like 150 songs in that time, most of them amazing.

That kind of blew me away that they'd only been a band for seven years. It just seemed like so much longer than that. One of the most innovative bands ever, trailblazers in Pop and Psychedelia. They deserve all the praise they get in my opinion. It's still weird to me that they quit just when the music i love was just getting started.

Well, they only had seven years so they had a lot of music to cram in there. LOL
