Things were great at first/But now I've changed my mind/You're just too normal for my avant-garde mind

I'm too avant-garde for you baby/I'm too avant-garde for you baby/Watermelons in the sky/Water drains down my eye/I'm too avant-garde for you babe

Fish and toasters/Rock-a-by-baby/Gills and take-out/Make me crazy

I'm too avant-garde for you baby/I'm too avant-garde for you baby/Watermelons in the sky/Water drains down my eye/I'm too avant-garde for you babe

When you put the radio on/I cringe/Why don't we put Trout Mask Replica/On for a spin/But then you loose your grin

That is nice. Is there a reason why they haven't been bothering you as much?

Hikaru Utada makes me feel romantic.

I have no idea really.

Me too, but I've only heard two albums.

I like that verse.

Listening to Yo La Tengo makes me feel cooler than I actually am.

Melancholy indie-pop songs sung by a husband/wife team, well recorded and arranged, often interspersed with Velvet Underground-like guitar feedback trance songs, and occasional noise experimentation.

"I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One" is my favorite album of the 90s.  The one after that, "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out" is even more moody, great late-night listening.

It's hard for me to think of my favorite '90s album, but it might be Human Being by Seal, which is entirely late-night music.

I like the songs I've heard by Seal, never heard a whole album though.

You should totally check out that album then. It's supremely sexy.

I shall, thanks for the rec.  My wife might actually have it, come to think of it.  Our collections don't co-mingle that often.
