I was recommended a Franco Battiato album once but I don't remember which one.

Shocked LISTEN AGAIN!

It's probably been over a year since I've wanted to listen to jazz.

My dad has an outrageously huge and impressive jazz collection, and I've tried here and there to borrow stuff from him (luckily he lives in the same city as I), even some more far out stuff, but somehow I just never feel like listening to it.

That is how I feel about it. I used to quite like it and was starting to get into it when jazz suddenly lost its appeal.

I rarely want to listen to jazz, and I'd much rather listen to other kinds of music with jazz chords instead, like jazzy electronic song-based music.

So I'm listening to Franco Battiato now and I'm instantly convinced that he's probably the best RPI I've heard so far.

I'm very picky about Jazz. I only own a few albums. Two Dave Brubeck and Waka/Jawaka by Frank Zappa. And I have Free Jazz by Ornette Coleman on my wish list. I also love this song that came with Vista on my last computer called OAM's Blues by Aaron Goldberg, and I plan to check the rest of the album out soon.

You should check out Jaga Jazzist. They get a lot of hype on this site when a new album is released.

My thoughts exactly, when I first heard him 2 weeks ago.  What are you listening to?

So far I've listened to bits of Pollution, Clic, and Sulle corde di Aries. It seems that Clic would be more up my alley, but I'm liking Pollution most.

All three are tremendous.  I'm listening to Clic right now, and see it's dedicated to Stockhausen on the cover.  Stocky would be proud.

My dad is a jazz addict so I have ~700 jazz albums at my disposal.
