I'm not sure this is the right forum, if not please feel free to move it.

For a while I've noticed that ProjeKct albums are listed under King Crimson

This has been bugging me for a while now, because firstly I don't consider them to be KC albums, there are only three of the available ProjeKct albums listed, and surely they should be considered to either be worth having their own page or (even more appropriately) to be included on the Robert Fripp page?

I would support the move, esp as they look a bit out of place on the KC page. Probably easiest to just move them to Fripp's page.

I agree. I would prefer their own entry though. But meanwhile to Fripp....possibly.

I vote for separate entry.  Particularly in light of the latest one.  I believe all the others were side projects with already KC members.  Scarcity has Jakko.  By the way, count me in the camp that likes that album.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Not only that.  There is a new King Crimson ProjeKct touring without his Frippness.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Add me to the list of people who agrees that the ProjeKcts should have their own page (or listed under Fripp, whatever). The albums look weird mixed in with the proper King Crimson albums.

I also agree with this suggestion, ProjeKcts albums are better to be separated from King Crimson albums. ;)

This has been discussed before on a few occasions with no overriding consensus. The Crims discography is a mighty convoluted and confusing one (but most of us wouldn't wish it any other way as it's testimony to their eclecticismWink) If you weren't that familiar with Crimson and looking for a Projekcts release, wouldn't you look under Crimson first? It should also be borne in mind that if we do decide to separate the two entities it leaves us more vulnerable to the nightmare of remedying album duplication with reviewsDead (I'd sooner lick the fungus off a dog's bollocks frankly)

Some observations:
Jakszyk and Harrison wouldn't normally be considered Crimson alumni, yet the case for A Scarcity of Miracles from 2011 having a separate entry is weakened by the product proclaiming in no uncertain terms 'A King Crimson Project'Confused
I think it significant that the two compilations of exclusively Projekcts material that are available, Deception of the Thrush - A Beginners Guide to Projeckts (1999) and The Projekcts (1999) are both unambiguously labelled as King Crimson albums. Similarly there are bonus tracks on the later studio Crimson albums culled from the Projekcts releases.

My gut feeling on this is that the Projekcts represents for me the predominantly live improvising/research and development aspects of King Crimson in the form of Robert and whatever courtiers take his fancy at the time. I also have to confess however that although I consider myself a massive Crimson fan, most of the Projekcts material leaves me completely unmoved.Unhappy

That's NOT a decision just some thoughts....

Although I see your point, the confusing KC discography has led me to seperate the releases into one official KC pile, and one with Robert Fripp and related onto the other.

I suppose you could put the ProjeKct albums on a seperate page, but then you'd possible start having to do the same things with the League Of Gentlemen etc.

In a strange way up until the last album the ProjeKcts did seem to be their own entitiy, until the last one appeared under the semi-KC moniker, that's why I'd probably support the ProjeKct albums going under RF. Although, to be honest, it'd be more important for me to see them gone from the KC page, regardless of where they get put from there.

Like Iain says, we've had this discussion, at least I remember one instance of it when the latest ProjeKt was being released. Probably because of excitement about the new release, many people wanted it in the KC discography. [I've hoped myself it would be a KC-worthy album, too.] Having the release title edited to include the ProjeKt condition was then a compromise. At least that's how I remember it. :P

Thanks for the feedback, I'll ask the Eclectic team for their opinion, too.
