After a terrible spring today it's the first day we have had good weather in Belgium this year so I took some pics.
Fat Marcel having a good time
Gaston enjoys the company of Marcel and Carmen
Lola enjoys rolling in the sun...
... and she likes Gaston too
No pics of the other cat Fernand, he is gone for 2 days, he does that now and then so we are not worried but we have no idea where does he go to.

^ Marcel and Lola must be really getting the kick out of the back-"scratching".
BTW, what breed is Gaston? I forgot the name.
Man, I was worried today when Clown wasn't showing up shortly after all of my exhausting outcries. Turns out she's been sleeping in a drum with rags all along and didn't stick her head out. Hiding from birds: Man, she HATES birds. I remember I was walking her out one day, and these two larks just come flying over us and start annoying the living crap out of her. Tweet, tweet, tweet! She just hid underneath a truck, in a shade, and they just stopped tweeting. She came out and they started bothering her again! Eventually she just jumped up a foot and a half in air, trying to reach out for one of those noisy rascals. "Shut-tha-hell-UP!" She hated birds ever since and kept avoiding being seen by them, like in the picture above. The mouse she caught on the same day she caught that rabbit: Clown's potential threat: I suppose that my little lady is gonna have to live on the edge this season if she still wants to walk around, have fun hunting the weaker ones.

Funny that Clown hides from birds, our cats try to chase them although very rarely they manage to catch one. Well, to be honest they did so much more when they were younger, now they have got used to them and they don't bother much.
We have also a canary and when the cats were young they were all the time jumping on its cage bothering him, the poor thing, but now they don't bother anymore and they leave him alone.
Gaston is a Briard, sometimes also called "pastor de Brie" (Brie's shepherd). Great breed, smart, with good character, very loyal and sweet, but they can not stand hot temperatures, when it's over 25 degrees C he really suffers.
BTW Fernand already showed up yesterday but today he's missing again, he must have some other home he is welcome in and given food, because there's no way he would stay away without eating for so long.

Yeah, sort of. We were planning to get a cat for a while and our neighbours up the street had just had a litter of kittens, so we picked one up on Father's Day, 2009. She was only about a month old when we picked her up. |

Each of our cats is notionally owned by a family member, whether that was by intention or the cat's choosing is open to debate, but Storm, the cat shown below, is "my daughter's cat", though Alex is is now living in London and Storm remains with us.
I don't seriously believe that pets adopt the personality of their owners, but there is something in the relaxed haughtiness of that pose that reminds me of Alex. Storm is also small and fiery and quite neurotic at times.

We got two rabbits. One is a foundling, that our neighbour found, but she didn't have a cage, and we did.
Since yesterday we have two beautiful white chickens too, but they're still very shy. |
