I like Kanaan and Franchitti but cmon, he's an aussie named f**king Will Power how can you not like that guy?

Also I can't believe I forgot next weekend is the epic race weekend.

Watch Newgarden, he's been setting some good times around Indy in testing this week, he could spring a surprise like Hildebrand and Wheldon did last year.

James, that was a BMW Sauber, not a BAR. And Viellneuve always did poorly at his home race, unlike his dad who was king at the track.

I was gunna say, I remember 2004 when Button had a pretty good year.
Sato did pretty decently as well.

05 started off pretty abysmally though, and of course BAR became Honda where Button got his first win, and Honda became Brawn where Button got his first title.

I know different teams technically but still interesting
Maybe not idk

To those interested in MotoGP, Honda HRC works rider and reigning world champion aussie Casey Stoner announced yesterday that he will be retiring at the end of 2012 season.

Casey was never particularly charismatic but he is a hell of a rider so the sport and its fans will miss him.

Ah, well I knew it was something about unhappiness.

Going to have to get back into Indy this year, I didn't know Sato and Barrichello were in the series! Awesome.
I love Dario but it'd be cool to see Will Power get a title, which thus far is on a good road to do so

Yesss. Will Power better get the championship one of these years. Or bad things will happen.

Well it's tough to stop those ScotsBig smile but this year seems like a mighty fine chance, given the current standings.
Also what happened to Tony Kanaan?
That title seems like a long time ago now :(

IIRC, he was in the hunt the last two years as well but couldnt complete it came down to the oval racing. Here's hoping he can hang in there this year.

And yeah Hes still there alright but I guess the team he's on now isnt a big/good one. He is teammates with Barrichello I believe so they need to use more Brazillian power.

Aside from Power and Casty I'll probably be rooting secretly for Hildebrand due to last years mishap.

Of course, I have to root for Barrichello as well.

Yeah he came in 2nd those times. Oh dear...its funny you'd think you should be able to ovals if you can do roads.
I know they're different but cmon, is it that hard?
It's the same car too, not like JPM who had to switch from F1 to stock cars

Actually Kanaan has done alright. Just not winning titles LOL

It would be cool to see Rubens do well.

Yeah, I realised afterwards.  Still, that was a tame accident.  He had some nasty ones in his career though. Ouch

Power's actually pretty good on the ovals these days (he won at Texas last year) but Penske made a few too many mistakes on pit road and in strategy on the ovals at the end of last year to beat Dario.

Hey, thats still blowing it on ovals. Tongue

At least, in the larger scheme he def seems better on the road courses.

I remember one year he crashed driving off of pit road. I didnt see the race just the highlights, so I could have misinterpretted what happened. I assume the car broke or tire was put on wrong.

^I see what you mean, on the ovals he's good, on the road courses he's the best there is.

^Well, he's starting in the top 10 and stranger things have happened (see last years last lap).

I feel sorry for ex-GP driver Jean Alesi making his debut, because he's Lotus contracted he has to use one of their engines which means he'll be swapping last place with Simona de Silvestro all day because neither of them have anywhere near the power to keep up with the Honda's and Chevy's.

Yes...those Lotus powered cars are quite off the pace. Seems a little dangerous to me.

He hasn't done any ovals yet, but it is a good start.
And like I said, when you've raced in Monaco and Spa...how bad can an oval be? LOL

Ya know Phil, it's brilliant...the odds for Rubens are probably a bit of a stretch, could end up making bank if he wins!

Holy crap, Jean Alesi...I only know him from the old "F1 decade" show they used to have, they showed the 93, 94, 95 seasons.

Yeah, they're in danger of falling below the 105% rule which means they could get black flagged. At least Alesi and De Silvestro are far better drivers than Milka Duno, so you dont have to worry about them acting stupid on track as well.

Well, I remember Mansell won his first ever CART race on an oval (Phoenix if memory serves), though he was driving for Newman Haas at their best. Still, KV are probably the third biggest team in Indy right now.

24. Kimi Raikkonen Lotus-Renault 1

Raikkonen didn't like his Monaco specific steering after an instilation lap so wipped out his practice. The times do look a bit slow, though, I expect we'll see them into the 14's this afternoon.
