it is a country full of fjords and mountains, vallys and dramatic landscape, which have shaped a country for 1000 years, so we don't like India have over 300 different languanges, we have 300 different dialects, or more, and 6-7 different main groups of dialects and all those 6-7 main dialects finds 30 different dialects related to that one of the 6-7 dialects
we have two (2) written languages, one is constructed, the other is a reaction or softening of the riksmål which is a soften version of danis, Bokmål, (the lingua of books), is a written system which is based on the standard of east norwegian, waterd down with tocuhes of being closer to danish, but also characteristics of the old west-germanic, old norse, the other is NyNorsk, neo-norwegian, a constructed language, (search the name Ivar Aasen), the distinguisness of the western Norwegian dialects, and the dialect of Setersdal, in Telemark (Telemark is proto-germanic of origin), neo-norwegian is more of a hobby for those accademical studens who feals to be more poetic, and sophisticated, also the broadcasting channel must have 20% of their programs on neo-norwegian Norway is a very peacfull contry who is fully awere of their small size and will never puch any larger countrys so hard that it will be threatning, but are nether not afraid to hit above their belt, also we/the country have for years masterd the art of byrocracy, when you are small, use the time you need to seal the deal, hastyness only couse wars, so Norwegains is good to observe the climate surrounding, them, can both bee postitive but also negative, sometimes it can get to slow, or we can be seem as naive, or to disjointed from real world,, but Norway is sort of an isolated outpost of Europe, we like the Brits don't sometimes see ourselvs as Europeans, or get suprised each time we notice we are actualy part of Europe, |

^ There's more than one type of Norwegian :O? I don't think there's more than one Hebrew...
I wish it was more peaceful here... From Israel all we pretty much see is "Norway- everybody has money and Socialist-Democracy FTW!" and stuff like that. I guess it's kinda Israel is in Asia but we'd never consider ourselves Asians or something like that.

read this fourm Frippism, to get a better picture of the two written forms of Norwegian http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question94770.html
Nynorsk (lit. "New Norwegian") is one of the two official Norwegian standard languages, the other being Bokmål. Just above 10% of the Norwegian population use Nynorsk as their primary written language. In Norwegian nynorsk also covers the modern Norwegian dialects, upon which the standard language is based. The standard language was created by Ivar Aasen during the 1800s to provide a Norwegian alternative to the Danish language (upon which Bokmål is based) which was commonly written in Norway at the time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nynorsk Bokmål (lit. "book language") or Dano-Norwegian is the most commonly used of the two official Norwegian standard languages, the other being Nynorsk. Bokmål is used by around 85% of the population in writing, regardless of dialect, and is the standard most commonly taught to foreign students of Norwegian language. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokm%C3%A5l Now, the more complex one: Why Aust-Agder, but Østfold? Aust = East in Nynorsk, Øst is East in Bokmål. Aust-Agder is not one of the four counties of Norway which currently have Nynorsk as its official, administrative language at county level. These are Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland and Rogaland, all situated on the West Coast. Aust-Agder is situated in the South, and this county was the first (in 1890) along with Møre og Romsdal and Sogn og Fjordane to have schools with Nynorsk as the main language. |

well some of Turkey is actually in Europe. But yeah we Israelis are from all over the place. Most are either Slavic, North African, Persian, or Iraqi. There's been a large immigration of Jewish Ethiopians in the 90s and 00s. My mom's Slavic (all over the place. Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania. She descendants though who have been in Israel since the 1860s- which is a hell of a lot when you talk about a country 64 years old). My dad's parents came from Iraq in the 50s.

of norways 1200 history as a kingdom, and recorded history 700 years have been in submission/union, with first Kalmar Union, followed by Denmar-Norway, then Swedish Norway, from 1397 - 1905, then as a free nation from 1905 to 1940, Edited by aginor - May 23 2012 at 01:34 |

yep pretty much :) "It's really wrong, what you Israelis did, with the Palestinians" "You oppress the Kurds" "You oppress Native Americans" "You oppress Chechnya" "You oppress Tibet" "You oppress Taiwan" While I usually support Palestinian independence, the hypocrisy I sometimes get from people from other countries is irritating to say the least.

so in essence, Nynorsk was created just to make the language less Danish? When the country was under Swedish rule?

yeah like "we actualy support the same couse as you, but you are israely and it is even more band to side with a possitive case when you "really" should be on the side of your contry men" like it is more sinfull to actualy have a different opinion then what the outer world think an Israeli should feel about the case, it smoulders the image of all Israely hate Palestine and vica-versa
i should link you an interesting program on the issue, made by a Norwegian correspondence and a masterchef |

I offer you a hug.
Well the issue is debated all the time here. I certainly don't hate Palestinians in general, you know... blatant racism and sh*t. Neither do most people actually hate Palestinians. With that, I know more than one person who would simply just state that we need to kill all of the Arabs. From my exposition to the Palestinian public, I would say there's the same kind of messy relationship. It's madness really. I see my family as my most interesting example of diversity. First, there's my dad, who is more of in the left-center. Then there's his brother who is rather extreme left, and goes to many demonstrations against the Israeli occupation. Then there is my dad's other brother, who lives in the West Bank in an "illegal" (illegal depending who you ask) Jewish settlement and has lived there since 1981. Totally send the link, I'm curious.
