The Wright Stuff on Channel 5, and guess what? Two members of Hawkwind are in the audience. The drummer and another guy I didn't catch the name of, plus a badger instead of Dave.

Nothing at the moment. I shut the damn thing off after coming to the realization that every second I spend watching Good Morning America is a second of my life totally wasted that I will never get back. I did learn this morning that it hailed recently in Smyrna and that Trayvon Martin had marijuana in his system. There you go, another senseless marijuana death.

It's a tad slow but me and my wife liked it from the first episode. It's on every Wed at 10pm on BBCA and on that day me and Dawn will go..."Cool,it's Wed..White Heat is on tonight".
It's a 6 episode series right?

You UK dudes need longer seasons! That is the only thing I don't like about British tv(and you know how much I love British tv shows)
My wife loves Supernatural, there are 24 episodes of it this season. Why can't ya'll do that?
Right now watching:a few episodes of Pysch,Season 4 on DVD.

The short-series runs in the UK is simply a matter of cost, our stations don't have the budgets for long series runs, however because of that the budget is allocated and spent and the whole series is shown - nothing gets pulled mid-season (or dumped in the friday night dead zone) based on poor Nielsen numbers. As a result of that I think we produce more evenly-paced stories.

I actually think American series can be a little too long. And White Heat is probably a one off with a conclusion at the end of ep 6. There isn't really a longer series in it unless...well...I...suppose it could in a way. Not sure it is a question of cost Dean. Shameless has run for some very extended series. I think it's more of a question of our system of writing.

Shameless Series 1 was 7 episodes - series 2 only went to 11 because it was a hit. Cash is all - pick up a BAFTA and you can guarantee DVD and overseas sales, therefore can fund more episodes per series. I don't think that is anything to do with our system of writing - I suspect series like This Life, Our Friends In The North, Life On Mars etc. that have story-arcs were at least story-boarded (if not fully written) to cover more than one series. Doctor Who is an example of that - story arcs are created to span several series, yet each series has a self-contained story arc and in addition to the 13 individual self-contained episode stories - this is no different to any US series based program (even 24).

^Why you telling me stuff I know?
I was going to mention Dr Who as something which is a long series. Always has been. Nothing to do with money.

Then once again I've failed to put over my point.
Doctor Who has short individual series, sure it's run for a long time, that's not the point. The BBC cannot fund any more than 13 episodes in any single year. Series 9 of Shamless is two seperate 11 episode runs, (the seccond half has yet to show), series 8 was 13 episodes followed by a seperate 9 episodes shown later. I cannot explain this any clearer I fear.

Yeah, I had seen it once before, but I didn't find it that good then. This time around I enjoyed it more. Really good!
Now: 'The Football Factory', on TV2 Zebra.
