I just found out that the band Europe released a new album called Bag of Bones back in April. It appears to be an European only release so far. Apparently, it is number 1 on the charts on the Sweden hard rock charts. I can't find anywhere where it is being released in the US.
Not of interest to anybody here, but I felt like posting it anyways.

and Norway loves to unshamly celebrate themselvs each day the 17th, like our former norwegian primeminister said it, "it's typical for a Norwegian to be good" with a stern face, and i bet you 3/4th of the Norwegain population would silently agree, but we are also tought to never show of any singular feats, the Low of Jante rules norway, do you know the Rule of Jante, Matt, itis the sole rule which EVERY Norwegian knows, in our spine, we know the rule of Jante more then the 10 comandments ![]() |

if you read this, you will understand Norwegains without ever meating one (im not serious now but, it is very close to the truth)
The Law of Jante (Danish and Norwegian: Janteloven; Swedish: Jantelagen) is a pattern of group behaviour towards individuals within Scandinavian communities, which negatively portrays and criticises individual success and achievement as unworthy and inappropriate. The Jante Law as a concept was created by the Danish-Norwegian author Aksel Sandemose, who in his novel A fugitive crosses his tracks (En flyktning krysser sitt spor, 1933, English translation published in the USA in 1936) identified the Law of Jante as ten rules. Sandemose's novel portrays the small Danish town Jante (modelled upon his native town Nykøbing Mors as it was at the beginning of the 20th century, but typical of all small towns and communities), where nobody is anonymous.[1] Generally used colloquially as a sociological term to negatively describe an attitude towards individuality and success common in Scandinavia, the term refers to a mentality which de-emphasizes individual effort and places all emphasis on the collective, while discouraging those who stand out as achievers. The Cultural Theory of Risk defines egalitarianism, prevalent in Scandinavia, as a mindset aversive towards rules but benign towards group unity. The Law of Jante describes how, in a society with an egalitarianist tendency according to this definition, an individual who does not have an earnest adherence to the group will need to "translate" the implicit, dynamic, group-regulated behaviour into explicit rules and principles in order to not deviate too much from the norm. The resulting worldview becomes egalitarianism's opposite, fatalism, where rules which the individual had no part in shaping simply have to be obeyed. In essence, in an egalitarian society, the need to follow a seemingly pointless Law of Jante can be seen as the cost of not accepting or submitting to the group. In more recent times, the practice of "translating" observed average behaviour into explicit rules is often exploited in stand-up comedy, and in sitcoms such as Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. The term is often used negatively. DefinitionThere are ten different rules in the law as defined by Sandemose, all expressive of variations on a single theme and are usually referred to as a homogeneous unit: Don't think you're anyone special or that you're better than us. The ten rules state:
An eleventh rule recognized in the novel is: 11. Don't think that there aren't a few things we know about you. In the book, the Janters who transgress this unwritten 'law' are regarded with suspicion and some hostility, as it goes against communal desire in the town to preserve harmony, social stability and uniformity. These 11 principles or commandments form the "Jante's Shield" of the Scandinavian people. |
