Those early Swans albums I've heard revived my interest for Stabbing Westward's debut.

Junior now.

Until you're a senior, you're a freshman.  That's just how these things work.

My parents listened to Steely Dan a lot in the car when I was little, and my dad is a big fan of Rush and Yes, but I didn't get exposed to any of this kind of music until I was 16 or 17.

My parents listened to the Oldies but Goodies station, so I grew up on Motown and Golden Oldies plus Beatles and Doors.  My dad did have MC5's Kick Out the Jams on vinyl, which kind of stuck out in his collection.  Mostly he just had 50's and 60's era pop 45's.

I mostly heard a soft rock station when I was young, luckily my memory of a cassette version of A Collection of Great Dance Songs influenced me.

We should raise that smartpatrol kid as one of our own so he'll become a connoisseur of all things musique concrète and inderteminate music by the time he's 13.
