Ok that clarification helps. Though libertarianism and anarcho-capitalism are still different. The last phrase was just an attempt to come up with some totally empty dumb phrase about socialism just like the one you attributed to anarchism. Though your clarification renders it useless.

Do you mean this black hole? Of course, that event wasn't quite last week - when it happened the Moon was still being formed from loose asteroids that were also bombarding the Earth and the primordial soup from which life blossomed had yet to be created.

Thanks, Slarti. I was against the idea of a united Europe from the very start and voted against it in the Norwegian referendum in 1994. I was against the euro, and the common currency proved indeed to be a disaster for many countries. I thought the first bailout was stupid and the second one even more so. Yeah, the Greeks have made a lot of mistakes – especially their politicians. Lies and corruption, a stupid military budget (like Turkey would attack us? Don’t they have enough to do on the Asian side of their country?) and big promises that were not rooted in the country’s economy. But today it’s not an austerity policy, but a poverty policy, and that’s why the people are revolting. The Greek people never chose to join the EU. They didn’t choose the euro. The Greek politicians did. I firmly believe that if we had had the drachma today, we wouldn’t have had any Nazis in the parliament. (For the record: I’m a Norwegian living in Greece and couldn’t vote yesterday.) |

You may be deadly earnest, but I am assuming your being sarcastic.... 1) French Socialist Party is called Center-Left, It's Policies are no different from any party of the right, in practice it has the same programme, even if its slogans are different. It really is unreasonable to identify it as a left-wing party. And Yes, Marine Le Pen refused to endorse Sarkozy, and it took votes from right wing voters to elected Hollande, even if they did so mainly out of anti-Sarkozy sentiment. The first round elections show you how much from different wings must have gone to Hollande. Its not as farfetched as you imply. 2) Red and Black Anarchists believe in terrorist action to spur the population. They disregard the revolutionary potential of the working class in itself. They are not interested in working class power, just a vague stateless society. Their entire program is opposed to an organized revolution. That is why they are anarchists and not socialists. This is pretty basic stuff. The anarchists are *not expressly working class, hence middle class, *use hooligan tactics. So what you say for 2 is not as farfetched as you imply. |

Well yeah I know it wasn't quite last week. Actually a couple of billion years ago but there was a story about it in the LA Times last week and the guy's writing style was rather amusing in the way he was refering to the black hole as gobbling up a meal. Nonetheless I'm gradually weaning myself off computers vowing to only use the blasted thing for necessities. It's turning peoples minds into vegetable soup. I have a friend who has a goddam cell phone that can identify bird calls amongst other stupid things. When will the madness end? |

You just posted an article from a foreign news source that you would never had read without the internet, as you mindlessly bash technology. The internet allows for a previously inconceivable level of education and dissemination of knowledge.
A phone with identifies bird calls would probably be helpful to a bird watcher and about 100 other hobbies. |

So you believe everything you read on the web? I initially read the article in an actual copy of the LA Times and thought the writer had a humourous style. The internet is just one big National Enquirer. Believe me I double check anything I read on the goddam thing. Everyone has become a big brother to themselves. Have to twit this text that upload this upload my pet rabbit in labour. Have to twit from the Rammstein concert. I was at the Rammstein concert the other night here in Montréal and there was this guy who was twitting in between songs. He was even twitting during songs. I'm sure he missed half the show. Cell phones everywhere. Instead of getting into the show there were so many people filming the goddam thing. I couldn't believe how many cell phones I saw. Unfreaking believable. And how are you going to tell a red winged blackbird from a starling if a stupid phone identifies the call for you. Join a bird watching group for freak sake. This friend of mine isn't even interested in birds, he's just freaked out over the fact that it can identify the calls. You don't even want to know what other decadent toys this guy has. This technology is really going to catch up with us sooner than we think. |

Do you understand the process of logical inference? No I don't believe everything I read. Any source of information contains fraud regardless of the particular medium. Peer reviewed journals, magazines, published books, interviews, college classes, radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, movies, websites, things written on bathroom stalls, etc. all contain misinformation. Hidden in all of them is also good, sound information. The very ability to disseminate valid information brings with it the counter and inevitable process of spreading tainted information. One cannot exist without the other, but this does not suggest a weakness. The fact that so much wrong information can be found via the internet expresses the strength of it. The reciprocal action is all of the factual information available, in quantities before unimaginable, at speeds unthinkable, and through a deregulated body which cannot be effectively censored. Few inventions in the history of mankind can compare to it. It's the greatest educational tool ever developed. Even things such as banal tweets give loads of sociological data which has yet to be tapped into, but it will one day change the very face of the social sciences once this warehouse of information can be effectively mined. You're being incredibly ignorant to the wondrous thing which you have taken for granted to the point of actually feeling contempt.
Join a bird watching group? Why? Some people don't like other people. Some people can't afford it. Some people don't live in an area with a bird watching group. Some people don't have a birdwatching group available when they go camping or are away on a business trip. I can list reasons all day for how this technology enhances the bird watching profession and expands it to people who would have been either uninterested or unable to pursue that interest. If you can't see how a program which identifies a bird from its call can be extrapolated to identifying the physical bird itself from another one, then I really don't know what to say to you. |

It also answers the querstion "Oi, what's that bird?"
Knowing it is a blackbird or a lesser spotted three-ringed willow warbler doesn't solve much, but it's a better answer than "I dunno".

I don't care for your young banter. i lost acouple of very good friennds because of computer errors. I flew for both the Canadian an Australian Air forces and if you have never experienced a first hand computer f**k ups I would suggest you keep your rhetoric to yourself and try and grow up in the meantime. Yes you have clearly provided a well reasoned and articulate argument against the internet and technology in general as you post on your computer. I will abdicate.
