From Italy?
Time for a long distance shot. I've got a hunch. Was it Antonio Stradivari ?

Did you check the Guess Famous Non Living Thing Game? That was the hint that would have given it all away immediately.
Anyway, you’re completely right!

I did not check the Guess Famous Non Living Thing Game thread, it was just an idea that popped up in my mind and I discovered that it matched with the given answers.
I'll come up later with another one. I have to think about it. Ciao for now.

Yes, he may be defined as a scientist, although he had no academical background.
Wonderful things.

Howard Carter, I presume. I once translated a book about Tutankhamun, and it all seems to fit.

Well done, refugee! It is indeed Howard Carter. Here are the explanations to the hints:
The Progressive Metal band is Nightwish. In their song Tutankhamen : For Carter has come / To free my beloved.
The fifth is George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon.
The sixty-second is the tomb of Tutankhamun, KV62.
When Lord Carnarvon and his daughter had arrived on Nov. 26, Carter made a breach in the corner of the doorway and peeped through it, lit by a candle. When Porch asked "Can you see anything?", Carter answerd "Yes, wonderful things".

The first one was the only one I didn’t find or already knew. Until I come up with a new person, you can amuse yourself with this video clip:VIDEO
