LOL I was expecting some percentage but you just went with numbers Well in all reality more than 5...but the number is not great. That's for the US...in the world there may collectively be a decent number. All my time here on an international forum though seems to show most people everywhere hate them

OP: As stated above, this was a silly way to do the poll. You should have given approximate percentages such as 0, <10, 25, 50, 75, 90+, all.

The American politicians of now? None that I know of.

I think it's alright. It's hard to come up with, say, 10 non-scummy politicians. Well, it don't matter anyway.

100% of American politicians is too many to know. That's where percentage fails against discrete math.

also as humans...we have different definitions of scum! For me, hmm...well taxpayer money has always been the biggest issue, I believe in tax but therefore it should be efficient. Not to long ago I used to be naive about the overall picture and advocate higher taxes, now I see it's better to cut the mess, cut spending and lower taxes. So politicians who waste taxpayer money 1: in spending 2: personally qualify as scum to me. AKA many Looking out for interests over the people is another point high on my scum list. Again most of em I really don't care about "personal" scandals because I just don't. Some have had particularly bad ones and that results in some scum. So yeah, most of em

Well, the reason I listed a number is because I asked you to name them for me with reasons why you think they are not scum.
I am turning into a misanthropist and my deep seeded hatred for everything that exists is growing daily. I am angry about everything. I wanted to see if you thought anyone helping run things in different countries didn't suck. I can't stand even the idea of how our world works and I wanted some HOPE.
If I did percentages, I wouldn't be able to get specific names.

Oh, well, that's a different deal, dude. I don't know anyone trustworthy in Russia. I heard things are getting worse and worse there. For instance, it's hard to get a job. That's why an acquaintance of my mother's moved to Estonia to get a job! ... Pf ! ...

Al Franken might be the only politician I know of that is not scum. There might be more though. Unfortunately, most of the politicians in power are scum.

Hmmm....well IMO Dennis Kucinich, Russ Feingold (though both have gotten the boot ) Ron Paul. I guess also Rand Paul. Gary Johnson Uh..idk a few others I'm sure. Not many It's tough, I can disagree with someone and still realize they are not scum...but you gotta distinguish the two. edit: Jim McGreevy was great as mayor of my town. Cool guy, "normal" the typical politician who was just doing his job. Personable and knew my family well because we always called him during dinner to make the snow plows come to our street. Then he became governor of NJ and went corrupt. Apparently also gay (what he technically resigned for...convenient since those scandals were breaking) Goes to show what the big time can potentially do the someone!

Bernie Sanders - not scum. It kind of depends on how close they are supporting/agreeing with to my personal political beliefs. It really pisses me off when those I like politically turn out to be scum waffles personally - Elliott Spitzer, John Edwards, Anthony Weiner.

Like I said, beliefs really shouldn't have anything to do with the scum factor. Without saying it, you do realize you're admitting a scumbag is less scummy, if they closely agree with you? It's really about waste of our money, "trueness" of belief, general corruption. Use of the office for personal matter. I can hate your guys but if you don't do any of that well....you got me That's funny. Spitzer, Weiner and John Edwards were 3 guys I really liked myself. Well, the Weiner thing doesn't really go to "scum" in my book...just dumb. I'm forgiving of "personal" scandal as long as it doesn't involve the public... Which obviously wasn't the case with Spitzer. Very sad. I was hoping he was gunna be a future star in the Democratic Party too. Oh John Edwards...man talk about the definition of sh*tbag I forgot about Bernie Sanders, he is also not scum. Ironically, the most progressive and the libertarian politicians seem to be the scum free ones.

Actually the scum factor has more to do with taking positions and passing or supporting legislation or advancing policies that are harmful that I happen to not agree with. Politicians can make things better for the many but far too many afflict the afflicted and comfort the comfortable, which I find morally unconscionable.
