Hi guys, I'm a college student at the University of Minnesota. I found this site about a year ago and decided it was worth it to join the forums. I starting listening to classic rock radio in high school, and I gravitated toward the proggier stuff they would play (Styx, Rush, they even played Karn Evil 9 - 1st Impression, Part 2). The more I looked into prog the more I realized how this was my genre of music. Since I was born in the 90's I'm still trying to catch up on a lot of the classic era prog. I generally prefer the sound of 70s/80s rock more than contemporary rock, prog or not, so I haven't ventured into neo-prog/prog metal territory yet.

Favorite Prog Bands: Rush, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Camel, Yes, Jeff Beck.

Through ProgArchives I've branched out and tried Magma, PFM, and Cold Fairyland, all of which I've really enjoyed. Though prog is my favorite type of music, I also love jazz, funk, and hair metal (that one's a guilty pleasure). I have an eclectic taste in music that prog helps satisfy.

I am a bassist, but I play classical double bass. I'm a music minor and play in the University Orchestra. I play bass guitar by default, but I've never put much time into that. I also play saxophone, some flute, and erhu (a Chinese instrument).

I'm excited to finally contribute to the forums after lurking for so long.

I'm from Iowa, though I go to school in Minnesota. My username, 吴比帅, is my Chinese name but I'm not Chinese, I'm just learning the language.
