I think it is normal to be weaker until you are fully awake. There was a question on r/askscience a while back that I'm too lazy to look for.
I always do my workouts first thing in the morning before I go to work.  It is supposed to give your metabolism a good swift kick in the ass and get it moving throughout the day.  It used to work, but I stopped losing weight a few months ago and it is starting to piss me off.

Do you take a week off to rest every 8 weeks? Do you eat a bunch of sh*t? These are two important factors.

You should make sure you don't do it on an empty stomach either or you'll burn off the wrong stuff.

You can walk in the mornings on an empty stomach and supposedly that burns quite a bit of fat.

I've read that 100 calories of something carby before a morning workout is good enough to tell your body to burn fat instead of muscle.

Oh, and more cardio is always a plus, especially depending on how overweight you might've been in the past.

Walking is ok on an empty stomach, but not jogging/running/weight lifting, etc?

Yeah, your body burns muscle instead of fat when you do heavy stuff on an empty stomach.

According to the program I am on, I am supposed to workout in the morning with an empty stomach.  i.e. eat 1 hour after workout or at least 2 hours before workout.  I workout 6 mornings a week alternating weights and aerobics, and upper body and lower body.  i.e. Monday - upper body; Tuesday - 20 minutes of aerobics; Wednesday - lower body; Thursday - 20 minutes of aerobics; Friday - upper body; Saturday - 20 minutes of aerobics.  The next week I do lower body twice and upper body once.  I don't take a week off every 8 weeks.  The program is supposed to last 12 weeks, but I just restart another 12 weeks.  I do miss a day here or there based on inability to get my ass out of bed.  And sadly, I have not been eating as well as I was for the first 12 months of the program.  French fries, pizza, and chips have worked their way back into my diet.

The workout part seems good, but exercising on an empty stomach and eating and hour after is kind of strange.

Depending on how much fat you've lost/how much muscle you've gained, your body might have gotten used to your methods and is comfortable maintaining its current fat/muscle levels. Metabolism boosting things like that only work for a period of time, kind of in the same way as medicine.

I am only a college student though, and you should probably talk to a physician about this and see what he/she has to say about it.

Also, I've read that not having a decent breakfast can eventually become the cause of metabolic syndrome, which manifests itself as abdominal weight gain and a bunch of other undesirable mess.

I usually eat a Met-RX Protein bar for breakfast.  It has about 32 grams of protein.

32 grams of protein is a lot for one bar, which is good, but I've read basically what Bryan says. I have 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, a whole grain english muffin, and an orange for breakfast, which is omgholysh*t balanced and has 23 grams of protein.

Our culture is sort of screwing us. It encourages us to grab something quick as we dash out the door to work in the morning. And then our biggest leisure time is after 6, which is when we usually eat our big meals, at the worst possible to time to eat a big meal.
