in the days of vinyl this would have been a double album. TFK's 'double' CDs are actually quadruples! The song titles look fun. wonder which one, if any, is the instrumental. btw, i see new HFMC is out. anyone heard it? what about that global warming thing he and tomas are doing? anymore info on that?

^ Thanks for sharing, I'll put that on my Spotify queue today. Another neat Spotify find, the first album by Journey is really good and nothing like the Arena Rock of the Steve Perry era. Apparently Neal Schoen (guitar) and their original keyboard player came from Santana. Who knew . . . (ok, I'm sure many of you knew, but I didn't).

You can't beat Steve Perry sorry. They're a band that is actually better pop/commerical.

I'm not saying that the first three albums are better or worse yet, just surprisingly different (to me at least). Granted, I've only listened to them once and still don't have a great feel for the first three. It's part of my research for the Styx / Journey cover band that I'm in. Just for the fun of it, I'd love to have something off of their first album for the inevitable wise guy in the crowd that asks for something really old.

those first few journey albums are really good. kind of proggy and mellow. i love the dude's voice as well. btw, been listening for the zappa influence on TFK. what i've discovered is Roine is influenced by, what i consider, the best part of zappa...his awesome guitar playing and instrumentals a la Zoot Allures, Black Napkins. i'd love to see TFK cover Zoot Allures

Fixed. The songs I added have those Zappa crazy moments that TFK love to do. The ones with the fast parts where the marimba usually stands out (because Ruth was such an amazing player). They're on Zoot Allures and Black Napkins, but more abundant in the other songs, plus many more I omitted. Roxy & Elsewhere probably represents where TFK get their main Zappa influence from (Maybe the whole 1973-1974 era as well). If you listen to that album straight through, you'd understand. |

Right on! i'm a fair weather zappa fan. i prefer his more 'mainstream' era. Grand Wazoo-Zoot Allure. I want to check out some of the Guitar solo records at some point. as far as i'm concerned Zoot and Black Napkins could be 30 min songs. just love 'em.

FLOWER KINGS: BANKS OF EDEN (Ltd 2CD-Enhanced Edition Of 2012 Album / Digi-Pak - Stock # T1530756) 2CD FLOWER KINGS: BANKS OF EDEN (Standard Single CD Edition Of 2012 Album - Stock # T1530757) CD FLOWER KINGS: BANKS OF EDEN (Ltd 2LP Heavyweight Vinyl + Bonus Enhanced 2CD Edition - Stock # T1530758) 2LPCD After five years of absence, Progressive cult band, the FLOWER KINGS release their 2012 studio album entitled: 'Banks Of Eden'. The material is all classic FLOWER KINGS, but the 2012 incarnation of the band mixes it up with both Psychedelic and darker metal passages that place this album somewhere in between the late 60's proto-prog and the new generation of symphonic art rock. "It was both a scary and exciting prospect to go back into the studio with the FLOWER KINGS after almost 5 years on ice. We have all been active with TRANSATLANTIC, KARMAKANIC, HFMC and AGENTS OF MERCY since, so we were up to speed in the playing department, but starting FLOWER KINGS again put some weight on my shoulders I suppose, but it's fun. Realizing that, now with ELP, CRIMSON, GENESIS, GENTLE GIANT and PINK FLOYD being history as far as new records and 'live' shows, we are among the new eldermen of Prog and we feel responsible for keeping the standard up, so a lot of hard work is gonna go into the coming months to prove we're at the top of our game. With all core members onboard for this re-starting of the FLOWER KINGS we brought in new 26-year old drummer prodigy: Felix Lehrmann, who we feel is gonna breathe life into both the new and old material in a 'live' setting, possibly with a more hard hitting edge. To show we're real men we decided to start the new album with a 25-minute epic centrepiece that is not easy listening, but the material also has all classic elements of the FLOWER KINGS style with all the dreamy melodic & cinematic glow sprinkled all over, that the band's fans have come to love over the years. My advice is: just give it time and it will be very rewarding." Track List - CD1 [Ltd & Standard CD Editions + Bonus CD1 With Vinyl LP]: 01. Numbers (25:20) 02. For The Love Of Gold (7:35) 03. I'm getting the 2CD edition. I just wish it wasn't in a digi-pack. It looks like the single edition is in a jewel case (based on the description), which is what I'd prefer.

Anybody heard the new Rush CD? - No long tracks on it so I won't be bothering, bout time they did a 78 minute re-visit of 2112/Hemispheres rather than the electro-pop they have been churning out since 1982....Just got round to reviewing Anima Mudi - The Way - this is a must have CD for any fan of Symphonic prog - I just listened to it again and it's just got better and better with every spin - I love every second of the CD and not a feckin saxophone to make my teeth grind.....

And I reckon they should ban saxophonists from appearing on prog CD's - keep em in Jazz where they belong - tootin , parping farty noises ruining good music....

Prog needs more trombones and trumpets, if you ask me. There's enough prog with sax.
I'm sure it was just in jest M27Barney, but there's sax in many genres besides Jazz. How about Rock n' roll, R&B, funk, soul, pop, jamtronic, Carribean music, Blues, etc....? |

Did the new rush leak?
Anima mundi is good. Most memorable melodies in modern prog this side of tfk, sb, dt etc. |
