MPs are trying to get the race cancelled with a motion in the House of Commons.  Not sure if it'll go anywhere.

It's a bit late though... the teams are already out there.  It'll cost a lot of money to go all the way to Bahrain and not actually race.  Although I guess it'll cost more if they do race... but yeah, they should have tried to force its cancellation earlier in the week.

I realise the incident with Force India has heightened things somewhat but there was always that risk before that.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.  I wouldn't be too upset if it as cancelled, to be honest.

It's because of the problems out in Bahrain.

I think it's too hot for the tires this time.  It was much cooler in China.

Right, I've read up on the Force India situation more since my last post. It seems that a lot of the team members arent too keen about moving through the city streets after night fall on their way back to the hotel, particularly since it seems their have been two incidents that team members have got caught up in, the second of which sint being publicised much. Doing extra running in FP1 and skipping FP2 means they can get through their work load and out of the track before 7pm when it gets dark out there. Apparently Bernie and the Crown Prince were both trying to put pressure on the team not to do this, as it probably embareses the two of them since they've promised it would be safe.

It does seem that Mercedes, Ferrari and Sauber much prefer cooler conditions whilst McLaren, Red Bull and Lotus work better in hotter conditions, though this weekend might be too hot even for them.

Wednesday night, a clash with protesters and police went off right next to 4 members of the team as they were making there way back to the hotel. Apparently there has been a second similar incident but it's not really being reported.

I've also read that 12 members of the Sauber team were on the opposit side of the highway when a clash flared up. From what the journalists over their are saying is that its normally very calm, if very tense, with a the occaisonal flair upof sporadic, small scale violance.

Bernie and the FIA have both said that only the organisers have the authority to cancel the event, and since it's the Crown Prince's plaything, thats not going to happen.

EDIT: Yeah, the opposition Labour party here has been very vocal on the subject, from the party leader Ed Miliband down, trying to put pressure on the event, but the government has said that its not it's place to comment on sporting events taking place in other countries.

I actually got increasingly worried when I saw some protester graffiti angry at the race.
I wasn't sure if they would use the race as an outlet, (or even view it as a symbol of the government) and seems like at least some may.

We shall see.

Indeed, I'd love Bernie to be gone but I definitely prefer the weekend go issue free.


Sleeper I'd imagine that'd be the case (the organizers having say). After all it's their race and like it or not...I didn't see how anyone else could stop it. Even if Parliament passed a bill what authority would it have?
Like if Congress passed a law saying the British F3 series should be outlawedLOL

I was torn, on one hand I thought the FIA should be neutral of it all, but I'm not real comfortable with the idea of the race going on. Well don't matter, lil late now.

Rosberg is fastest in 3rd Practice, with Vettel 2nd and Webber 3rd.  Hamilton is 4th fastest.

Qualifying will be interesting!

Excellent job from Kovalainen, outqualifying Vergne and Schumacher (admitedly Shueys DRS failed, but still). Making the tyres last will be key, I dont think this will be as crazy as China but it should be a decent race.

Don't get me  wrong. I'm not in love with Bahrain..it's just kind of whatever.
I certainly like it more than that wreck in Dubai!

Actually the 3 races thus far have been very quiet up front. It's been position 2 - 12 that's been insane.

Yeah, I'd like to see Kovalainen have some success again. I liked him (Finnish naturally) and to think he was on McLaren just a few years ago!

I haven't seen the highlights but I did listen to the race on the radio.

No surprises with the winner.  Good job Lotus though.  Bad luck McLaren.  Button had a nightmare on the last few laps.

Well done Di Resta though!

And I haven't heard whether Rosberg will be punished yet for his two race incidents.
