If either of my parents got me into prog it was my mom whose tape I very faintly remembered hearing before when I was young and subsequently decided to get DSotM on a whim.

BTBAM introduced me to King Crimson because they did a good cover of "Three of a Perfect Pair", which is now my favorite KC album. It feels nice having grown up with a local band who are now kinda big.
Wow, really? I don't like much their 80's/90's era (Discipline excepted), but that's an impressive leap!
Their '90s stuff is kind of boring IMO, but songs like "Industry" and "Dig Me" from Three of a Perfect Pair are so interesting. What's your favorite KC?
During my phase of 'ZOMG, STRANGE MUSIC", Larks Tongues was by far my favorite, but then I (slowly) realized that that was silly and begun digging Red and now I rank Red as one of my all-time favorite albums. Besides Red, I also love the debut and Circus.

lol I was into Larks' Tongues when I was in my ZOMG STRANGE MUSIC phase too, but I haven't listened to it in years. I think I decided that it was a boring mess. Red is awesome though, definitely one of my favorites -- "Starless" and "Fallen Angel" are 5 star tracks.

It was a joke referring to those threads about women
