one more comment about jon anderson.  his solo stuff and latter day yes stuff really is all one song.  i think he has a formula for writing lyrics where he focuses on a few themes.  openness, light, infinite, dream.  he can come off preachy but a lot of his stuff is just jon babble and supplication to his guru or something.  it's too bad for me, because he has a sh*tload of solo stuff that i just cannot get into.  olias is great, but after that...uh oh.

also, that old roine interview snippet posted above was great.  i went to the site and read the two interviews they have with him.  he talks about chicken farmer song!  he says its a fun, feel good, rocker.  good stuff.

Hey zuma,

This is getting way too strange now, as all I can do in my posts is say I agree with you.  But I agree with you.
Yeah, most of us have been on many forums before and though it is so easy to loose one's temper at people who are rude to you it doesn't get anywhere ultimately... So for my part, I try really hard to stay cool, but being a really opinionated bozo like I am, it is really hard!

Can't agree more on Jon Anderson.  I can play Olias a billion times more, yet his other stuff doesn't work for me.
And all his stuff in YES recently feels like the same vibe. But you said that already.

You were very kind to mention my service and I humbly say thanks.  Yes, I was on a submarine and I can't believe that I actually did that! On the sub I met some of the most dedicated & professional men, I think there ever could be.  It was a huge honor to be a part of that. I went in the Navy for an education for my future, not to be Rambo. LOL  Being on the sub was just like Star Trek but under the oceans and without all those space babes that Kirk always wound up meeting.

Can't wait for the new Flower Kings record! Tongue

No no, this isn't as much a hostile take over as a passing of the torch.  Infandous and Nov still get props for being 'old timers' but yeah, take it and run with it.

Well, I'm an 'old timer' in the sense that I've been listening to the FK's since spring 1999.  I don't recall where I came on this thread, but I think it was after it had hit 100 pages.

Edit:  Wow, my memory sucks.  I've been here since page 9! LOL  Tom has been here since the very beginning.  So I guess the 'new' people haven't really taken over completely after all Wink

Hello people, I've been a bit busy in the old work department, and I haven't been listening to as much music as I should be, mainly coz I got wiped out in a RTA and my new car's CD player is duff - must get it replaced soon!!!
Anyway, can't wait for the new flokis album! My current recommendations are the two Nexus Cd's - Detras Del Umbral and Metanoia - both absolutely amazing on first listen and just get better witth each subsequent spin.
If you like keyboard oriented prog - these are probably your bag.
I'll be posting again - shortly, How is everybody??

Hey good to see you after all this time Clap

All I have from Nexus is Perpetuum Karma.  It's certainly got loads of Hammond organ, but I don't find it particularly compelling.  I've heard the earlier albums (which you have) are a bit better with the female singer.  PK has a pretty weak male vocalist (the guitarist, I believe ......... plus another male as guest on a couple tracks who is better, but still not great).

**Warning** Spoiler alert on both those links, especially the second one.

Lots of laughs on the first vid, and good to see some studio footage on the other link. I love that the tongue-in-cheek humor on the second vid about the album being "nothing new, same old same old" LOLLOLLOL

we're kindred spirits.  really have enjoyed your posts.  it's nice to have a mature forum!  i'm double psyched about june because the new rush is coming out the same day as the new TFK!!  now, if i get to see TFK live this year.  that would be too much!!

there seem to be so many prog bands.  i've listened to sylvan in one of my many attempts to 'broaden' my horizons only to come away unimpressed.  doesn't mean they're bad, i just don't have the attention for 'em.  TFK and family along with Rush and Neal Morse related projects are keeping me quite busy lately.  that's not to mention constant rotation of classic yes, genesis, etc.  thanks for the rec though.  i'm always interested in what other bands TFK fans are intoWink

Oh I forgot all about responding to this post.  Count me in the 'fans of Sylvan' group.  I think "Artificial Paradise" is my favorite by them, though they have quote a few good ones.  An interesting side note is that they are probably my wife's favorite prog band, She loves the singer . . . I wonder at times if I should be jealous. . . Shocked

Those videos are quite fun.  Gotta love Roine's humor.  He pissed someone off on the Yahoo group with a post about TFK's touring with the Pope.  It was an odd one.  I'll post it here, just to see what you guys think:

TFK open for the Pope !!

PROGRESSIVE ROCK MASTERS THE FLOWER KINGS  HANDPICKED BY HIS HOLYNESS
TO OPEN ON  HIS WORLDWIDE TOUR IN DEC 2012.

The Pope is already getting into shape and report from the gym that
he'll "teach those communists and the gay community a lesson they'll
never forget".
He found no better representative than the "young emerging arian
choral progsters" The Flower Kings to be his  warm up act for this
world dominition tour .

The Vatican's press contact  reports that he's now also getting his
paperworks in order to go to the Americas to "challenge that black
communist who destroy a clean healthy profitable  Godfearing America
with a left wing  drug liberal agenda".  (and he's black )
This boxing (death match) game will be held at The Madison Square
Gardens  on July 4th.  Warming up will be The FLOWER KINGS.
Let no one leave alive!

This is no Hoax !

Get tickets !!!
Just leave your :
