Confession time:

I have to confess that although I've been in a band (Rare Goat) for 7 years and have been playing guitar very informally for over 20 years, I still can't get excited about "gear" talk.  It definitely puts me at a disadvantage when I'm talking to someone else who plays guitar and he starts hitting me with all these questions about what I use.   For one thing, most of the gear I use belongs to someone else -- our drummer has a basement studio and rehearsal space in his house, and between him and our other guitarist, we have all the gear we need.  I'm just not really interested in the gear per se, I just blow with what I got, and work from there.  But it does make me feel like a "lesser" musician at times, because I can't hang in that kind of conversation.  Like a car enthusiast who really likes to drive, but doesn't know beans about engines.  That's me.

Just had to get that off my chest.

Now you guys can say, "Hey, no problem, man. You're still ok".

I don't have much, only what I've been able to scrape together through my few years of working (I'm 18), and some Christmas gifts too.

Guitars
Fender Stratocaster (Cream colored with a maple neck, yum)
Ibanez RG (my trusty mid level RG for teh metalz and general humbuckin action)
Ibanez Iceman Bass (A bit top heavy, but it gets the job done)
and two crappy acoustic guitars not worth mentioning

Amps
Vox VT15 (best thing I've ever bought, very diverse, highly recommend to anyone looking for a cheap and awesome amp)
Ampeg BA-108 (pretty solid bass amp, has a line out which is nice for recording

Other shtufff
Vox v847 Wah pedal (somewhat useful, never been a big fan of effects)
Yamaha Audiogram3 Audio Interface (great value, I've used it to record all my guitar and bass tracks into my laptop)
Axiom 25 USB Keyboard (useful little device that lets my play virtual instruments in my Cubase 5 software)

Very basic, as I don't have all that much cash, in terms of instruments I have an ibanez s4 guitar, a fender strat, a rodriguez classical guitar, a no longer functioning usb keyboard, a digital piano and an ibanez bass. In terms of pedals I have a boss gt distortion pedal, a boss auto wah, a boss gt10 multi effects boards and a Brian May guitar pedal. As for amps, I have a vox 50 watt amp and a marshall 100 watt solid state amp and with regards to recording equipment I have an akg condenser mic, a seinheiser black fire mic, a firewire audio interface and sonar 8. I do my mastering in adobe soundbooth, previous to that it was adobe audition but I lost that so I'm relegated to soundbooth. Before I upgraded to the audio interface I used to record using a partially damaged foster 260 multitracker hooked up through an array of wires to my computer, would record my tracks into Sonar.  I'm not much a tech and don't have the patience for sound mixing so I could always record better though studio time is just too expensive when you have a multitude of tracks to record.
