Favorites from the albums I have so far:

The Flower King - Humanizzimo
BITWOA - World of Adventures
Stardust We Are - Stardust We Are
Space Revolver - I Am the Sun, Pt. 1
Rainmaker - Last Minute On Earth
Unfold the Future - The Truth Will Set You Free
Adam and Eve - Love Supreme

Is it wrong for your favorite from each album to be an epic?

*laughs* no, I think you're ok in that there are few out there that have a rather similar list.  I wouldn't sweat it.

Actually, I've been in a bit of a funk lately.  I think I'll put the Flower Kings on randomizer for the next week until I come out of it.  Approve

Yeah, it's been a few pages hasn't it?  I'm well thanks Tom, hope you are too.

Dennis and Zuma have really kicked the thread on with help from Gus and I've just took a back seat.  I remember choosing my favourite from each album, I didn't realise it was almost 100 pages ago though!!  Page 200 here we come (probably mid-May I reckon).  Anyway, presently my favourites are thus:-

The Flower King- Dissonata
BitWoA- World of Adventures
Retropolis- Retropolis
Stardust We Are- The Merrygoround
Flower Power- Garden of Dreams (my favorite thing by the Flower Kings ever too)
Space Revolver- I Am The Sun
Rainmaker- Serious Dreamers
Unfold The Future- Genie In A Bottle
Adam and Eve- Drivers Seat
Paradox Hotel- Monsters and Men
Sum of No Evil- One More Time

It DOES seem that us relative late comers to this thread have taken over somewhat Big smile

I agree with all that has been said about this "forum within a forum".  I've noticed that every Flower Kings forum I've ever been part of has (mostly) been very friendly.  Obviously, people who are into them share their positive outlook.

Dennis, I couldn't agree more with your post about religion and politics.  I just find that individuals like Morse or Anderson are not a part of what you are talking about.  Also, being non-religious (but having a degree in Religious Studies) I just don't really find myself bothered by religious or spiritual lyrics.  I HAVE heard what I consider to be preachy Christian music, and aside from the fact that it was crappy musically, I would not have listened to it again because of the "preachyness" alone.  I just don't really get that from Morse, Stolt, or Anderson.  Morse is borderline sometimes, but I can get past it because his music is so good (mostly).

I used to be rabidly anti-religious.  I avoided listening to any of Morse's post-born again material because I hated hearing any religious content whatsoever (unless it was bashing religion).  Over the years though, I've realized that many people I care about have been helped by their religion and that it is important to them.  I can appreciate this, and I've realized that the problem with religion is not the people who believe, but the people who use it to achieve their own personal ends.  Who wield it like a weapon.  There are far too many of those people in US politics these days, and in the US in general (I think it goes without saying there are too many people like that in the middle east, as well).  I still think humanity would be better off if it could grow out of these ancient myth based institutions, but I don't expect that will be happening in my lifetime.  So, like you Dennis, I will base my feelings about people on their actions, not their words.  In that regard, Morse has made some great music, with some cheesy and unoriginal lyrics, but the music is what matters and if the words are what he strongly believes than who am I to question his happiness?  If he starts calling for a theocracy in the USA, then I'll probably stop listening to his music.  I can't say much about Anderson, only that his lyrics of the past 15 years have become increasingly repetitive and unimaginative.  I've heard almost none of his solo work and don't really have much interest in it.  Roine, on the other hand writes stuff I can really relate to and agree with, most of the time.  He's a die hard lefty spiritual humanist and I can get behind that completely.  I still don't agree with him 100% on everything though.

Anyway, sorry for the long post.  I can't wait until we have new Flower Kings to discuss!!!!  Clap

These 'favorite tracks on each album' lists always come up when I'm not in a Flower Kings mood and don't feel like going through a couple songs to double check if they are my favorite. But I'll give it a shot:

TFK: Dissonata
BITWOA: World of Adventures
Retropolis: Retropolis or Silent Sorrow (still digesting this album)
SWA: In The Eyes of The World
FP: Garden of Dreams
SR: Rumble Fish Twist
The Rainmaker: City of Angels
UTF: Fast Lane
A&E: A Vampire's View
PH: Touch My Heaven
TSONE: One More Time

That was hard. I could have gone with more obvious choices, like I Am The Sun, The Truth..., Love Is The Only Answer, Stardust, etc... but I wanted to spice up the list.

rumble fish twist!  that spaced out ending could go on forever!

I agree completely. Sum Of No Evil is one of my favorite albums of theirs both musically and lyrically. Even though I have only been into The Flower Kings for a little over a year, I feel like the wait for a new album has been forever because their music is just so amazing.  They are definitely among the top prog bands of all time in my book.

Just curious.  What do you guys think of a band like Sylvan?  Do they appeal to the average TFK fan, or are they too heavy or alternative sounding?

About the "hostile takeover" here, we will probably get all tired and pass out pretty soon and then the old timers can have the thread back.Wink

Please don't apologize for the not long but excellent post, on this forum like most others there are so many mindless posts or petty insults, so a quality post is always welcome, IMHO. I appreciate that you went into detail and made your case, I think that is how we can learn about people. So many other threads devolve to name calling
and negativity and we have already learned to do that kind of dialog in like the 2nd grade, so anyway....

I would be happy to answer some of the Religion talk, but I think I should send you a PM.  I do believe that us FK fans here have some serious mojo working in this thread, and I don't wanna even test the waters on tipping any balance we may have achieved, however accidental.  Perhaps if I get more into religion and tell you guys that
we should all worship the gourd and not follow the shoe, it may cause tensions here.  That would be a shame.  TFK music is so positive and wondrous, I think the music is what helps keep things cool here. Plus I do think you lads are coming around and are seeing the light more about the greatest Flower Kings song ever.  At this point I know we don't even need to name it.  That is how far we have come. Big smile

@infandous: please give me some time with that PM, when I can be clear & concise with my words I will shoot it your way.

Hey Dude,

As I won't hide the fact that I am on PA mostly to find new music, I'll reply here.

I think I heard one of their old albums, kinda rockish, I see they have a new one:

http://www.amazon.com/Sceneries/dp/B006X14LK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334188610&sr=8-1

Is it worth checking out?  What is it like?

@thread

I like Retropolis. Dop de dop the rhythm of life!

Something like that.

Not an A list band for me though. Good, but nonessential.

I haven't spent enough time on them, because nothing really caught me other than that they are generally good.
