Works for me.  Better than getting you a gift card, which you'll just use to get the next Taylor Swift album.  Tongue

I would never cheat in a relationship...
That would require TWO people finding me attractive.

Sorry, you had it right the first time, or at least closer.

Kind of Blue isn't Miles's best jazz album.

Kind of Blue is hard to beat.

But Coltrane's version of My Favorite Things is the apex of the universe.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I heard A Love Supreme and Kind of Blue in their entirety and I did not like them. Are they the kind of records that grow on you? What are the best introductory records to jazz (other than the ones presented above)?

When I was your age, I could fill my tank for $13.

98 cents a gallon.

Making fun of Dream Theater is generally a safe first move

Naturally, she is just messing with you. You will encounter a lot of hotheads on the way, so try not to argue too hard with anyone. This is probably the first healthy advice I have given so far. Shocked

Make a thread in General Music Discussions - you'll get great advice.
And to avoid a jazz takeover of this thread - too late.

I would say Kind of Blue is pretty straightforward.  If you don't like jazz you won't like it, but beyond that...

I loved both on first listen so it's hard to say.  As for introductory albums, that's also hard to say as it depends on what you like.  Chick Corea's Now He Sings, Now He Sobs might be worth a try, or some EST.  Piano jazz I think it generally a bit more accessible.

If you want a modern twist on piano jazz - Hiromi Uehara's Voice.

Oh and Colin...........Miles in the Sky. That is all.

Hi Anna,
Welcome.
Your brother is one of the first friends I made here, an excellent musician, and a one of the reasons I am now a collaborator here. Someday I will get my revenge. Evil Smile
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.
